we received email from reservoir news the other day chad over at dp did too.
the reservoirs are lurching forward...house bill 2 -the capital outlay budget bill- is an astounding 85 pages and estimated $3.7 billion dollars long (page84). besides the reservoirs it provides for such as a $3.4 million general obligation bond (page49) for rapides parish for planning and construction dean lee research center. east baton rouge parish the mckinley high school alumni get 4.135 million for the planning and construction of a community center (page 67). get this, on page 24 the state allocates a paltry 550,000 dollars for hot wells "demolition and cleanup" if the state really wanted to do something for the people they would take all this reservoir money and develop hot wells. yeah theres a thought. hot wells is one of those places that has mineral waters. according to this old post on roots web "...thousands have taken the "cure" on its healing waters...the waters, containing two pounds of minerals to a gallon of water, bubbling out of the ground from 2,800 feet below the surface at 116 degrees..." so there is no way of course to get the whole bill killed so we have to see to have the "reservoirs" defunded. the authors are louisiana state representatives hammett, salter, alario and dorsey ...together with senators hines, bajoie, heitmeier and mount...view their campaign financial disclosure reports...
hb 2 the capital outlay is currently assigned to the house ways and means committee - please follow the links below to view the bill; to view contact information for the house ways and means committee and the la state legislature. ask them to defund the reservoirs and end the eminent domain abuse against these good people once and for all.
