added 8:57 pm cdt friday 04 august 2006 "with age either you become wise or you're stupid; iam incliined to believe i have a certain amount of wisdom to share with the citizenary of central louisiana particularly the city of alexandria" harry silver to michele godard. mr. silver seems like he could be a fun guy. when asked if it was true that he just wanted to be on the city council in order to "unload [your] property in downtown development?" he replied "i think thats a narrowly focused approach i wanted to do that prior to this announcement" lol. the question on everyones mind was summed up this way: "did you promise that you werent going to run for the seat because you were actually appointed in place of rick ranson...?" mr silver replied "i was appointed at the behest of the council after they asked for names be submitted from which they selected my name they mentioned the fact that they would have a person that would fulfill that term i was not a party to that condition...i never have run this is the first time" so uh hmm what does this mean?
mr silver said that he called marc lampert beforehand to let him know that he was running he said of lampert that he is a nice fellow, that silver has known since he was young and that lampert is a seasoned, intelligent, high caliber candidate.
mr silver comes off as a dedicated downtowner. we hope thats the case and that he leads up the fight to pull the proposed sports arena and supports downtown & red river commerce plan.

added 7:51 pm cdt wednesday 23 august 2006 another good video blog. mr. lampert tells us that district 4, includes downtown, the garden district and dist 4 mr. lampert says includes and we didnt realize this cabrini hospital and the mall. he says that he lives in the garden district and that he feels that its an "uneven race" because he says that its a race about who the city council wants ~ councilman silver ~ versus who the people of district 4 want ~ himself. he says though that whatever the people of district 4 decision is he will be happy for and support it. he says that he is "neighorhoodcentric" and that he is meeting a lot of people in the neighborhoods and "that happiness and power and security flows from the neighborhoods outward." well we certainly agree with that. hes an attorney by trade and says that "sometimes we (attorneys) get a bum rap probably most of the time people are right on." we agree there too. one thing that we disagree with mr. lampert with is the brick streets in downtown alexandria. lampert says that he is "one million percent" against paving them over. huh??? then he says that the garden district is about quality of life. aww c'mon give us a break. when those bricks were put down what 100 years ago it wasnt but prolly 3,000 people in all of alexandria. riding buggys, wagons and horses. do you really think that if you could bring all those alexandrian's back today and showed them a paved road like jackson street extension or even the paved roads that we have now what would they choose? common sense would tell you they would choose the paved roads. so, sorry historical society ladies, but anyone who is for brick streets in this day and age has got a screw loose. yeah its too bad that hauk's alignment doesnt take sentimentality as payment.

councilman fowler asked "here in other words you're going to amend it not to show the june 12th meeting?" councilman hobbs replied that he was amending it to start today and councilman fowler cut in: "nah, i'am asking you if you're amending it specifically not show the june 12th meeting?" councilman hobbs replied "i'am amending it to start today and into the future."
a voice vote was then taken and councilman fowler asked for a roll call vote the yeas were myron lawson, everett hobbs, louis marshall and roosevelt johnson. voting no were harry silver and chuck fowler.
and there ya have it alexandria. if this doesnt prove to you that you have a majority of criminals running your city nothing will. the only question is what are you going to do about it?

councilman harry silver seconded the motion and called for discussion. the resolution was met with strong resistance from the usual suspects.

city of alexandria caught lying about prescott road "study"
20 november 2007alexandria mayor jacques roy
misrepresents a "study" to the alexandria city council
anyway, in the 20 november 2007 city of alexandria, la. city council public works / zoning committee meeting, councilman harry silver presided over a "preliminary discussion, concerning the purposes of christus cabrini hospital proposed expansion request, this is just for informational purposes, just the tip of the iceberg." [video link if this link doesnt work heres the video direct link then slide the timer bar over to 7 minutes 23 seconds].
the mayor responds that "gentlemen we're close to putting the final touches on plans to allow cabrini's expansion without the use of any green space or recreational space across the street at the ball parks or really anywhere else. but instead making use of cabrini's existing space that already is there on its campus by rearranging how that is by looking at properties that they own, that they own substantially, properties, on prescott now save a few and by any additional properties that they might purchase all with the understanding that we would be involved in revocation of parts of the right of way known as prescott road from texas to on or about cabrini avenue including cabrini avenue,
there is an issue about relocation of utilities which is substantial, we had a lengthy meeting with mr.silver present yesterday or so and there are gonna be significant issues about how to do that when i say issues i dont mean that they are insurmountable or even something that isnt routine but we have to look at the best and highest use of the area and the best way in which to move those utilities we had some meeting earlier on that you participated in so that residents in the adjoining neighborhoods and eventually the city could weigh in about the ballparks, we were charged with the responsibility of finding an alternative, along with cabrini and members of the council and members of the administration, we have come up with alternatives the principal one being the revocation of part of prescott."
our big obstacle now and the reason we wanted to give you an initial thought about it and i think you need more time is about relocation of utilities. that'll be an expense that has to be taken on we have to make sure that the public gets a gain from all that. that we dont lose anything, we have to make sure its safe for our infrastructure. so thats what we're looking at now with the proportion of return to alexandria as i think that we all know that the economic and community development of an expanded cabrini with the jobs and with the ability to help our citizens in need is well worth it in terms of those dollars it greatly outweighs most expenses,
but we still have to look at these infrastructure issues we're required to do that just as you were in the past so right now we're working on the cost but thats the basic outline. we have preliminary plans and sketches that you could look at if you wanted to we dont have any kind of final plan yet its mostly been about the way in which we do it and the way in which we would proceed from here on out and requirements we would have on cabrini to do that."
later on in the meeting, at time 12minutes31 seconds the mayor interrupts councilman silver and once again references the fake study and again passes it off as a legitimate source of information when he says that "mr. silver the study shows there wont be an increased traffic problem...the traffic study we've already done shows there wont be any change and the reason why is only traffic thats using the area from texas (avenue) there now is cabrini traffic from eighty something percent of it or better is cabrini traffic the way we would require wainwright to be used and come back through and shirley, it wouldnt be an increase, in fact over time other than the trouble of any expansion where you have construction going on once that happens its actually gonna be better for the quality of those neighborhoods."
now flash forward to today's town talk where we learn:"Kay Michiels, chief operations officer for Alexandria, said the 80 percent figure is an educated guess after combining the results of a traffic-counting device placed on Prescott Road near Cabrini Avenue on Nov. 8, 9 and 10 and data provided by the hospital.
"It's very comprehensive as far as counting the number of vehicles, (but) it is not scientific when you ask what percentage goes into Cabrini," she said."
than knowing they were caught ms. michiels attempts to backpedal "Michiels said that if the city goes through with the proposal, "then we may see the need to do an official traffic study, which would be very expensive and very comprehensive."
now remember that this is despite the fact that the mayor and ms. michiels on 20 november 2007, represented the fake study to be a comprehensive study.
look at the terrible message the mayor, ms. michiels and cabrini are sending to the children. the poor children. they're saying if your teacher or professor gives you an assignment dont worry about using scientific principals and techniques to arrive at an answer -- just make some shit up and if no one bothers to check hey, you're in the clear :-)
how many other fake studies has the city used to trick the citizenry into supporting one of their scams? we would be fools, suckers to believe anything they say without first investigating it.
mayor roy, his chief operating officer kay michiels and cabrini hospital are flat busted perpetrating a fraud...looks like they better call david stone.
we believe that mayor roy is a closet republican coz thus far hes reveled himself to be nothing but a corporate puppet.

alexandria mayor - john sams - dr sams brought on the best campaign in our opinion. he started campaiging a long time ago and despite his reputation as being a head knocker he never resorted to mud slinging. we think dr. sams wants to be mayor the most. additionally, dr. sams, we feel, would provide lots of excitement and entertainment to the blogosphere

additionally we recommend a constitutional amendment to limit how many constitutional amendments can appear on a ballot at one time. four or five at a time is enough. furthermore, by placing so many amendments on the ballot it cheapens the constitution it makes it look like a weak piece of paper that is so sorry that it requires massive amending all the time. that many amendments is confusing and stupid and should be stopped!

alexandria's 'baggy pants' ordinance makes faux fox news
and now...back to 'baggy pants'
the citizens and city of alexandria, louisiana made fox news (see link) the other day.
fox reported how:
"Alexandria's City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to ban the baring. Its ordinance allows some sag, but 3 inches or more can bring a fine of $25 to $200 and a requirement for community service."when news finally broke on 23 august 2007 about how cities like delcambre, louisiana had passed and cities like atlanta and alexandria, louisiana were considering passing the same or similar ordinances -- the executive director, ms. debbie seagraves, of the american civil liberties union immediately went on record to remind everyone that "this is a racial profiling bill that promotes and establishes a framework for an additional type of racial profiling," seagraves said.
a normal minded person would take this to mean that the american civil liberties union is going to eventually sue any or all of the municipalities that put 'baggy pants' laws on the books. so why would you unnecessarily put your city in harms way of a very likely federal civil action against it. not to mention the damage to your cities reputation after the american civil liberties makes a fool of it? of coz thoughts of the massive attorney and legal fees the city i.e. taxpayers will have to foot is never talked about. we see that in the city of pineville, louisiana's seventeen thousand and counting dollar legal fees to bring a suit thats not even provided for in the law.
three councilmen in shreveport, louisiana had the good sense to vote no, yet alexandria's seven councilmen including most curiously haberdasher harry silver unanimously voted the ordinance in. this shouldnt be surprising when just this past january they voted in the so called 'abandoned car' ordinance which like 'baggy pants' is promised, went down to court challenge and defeat. so when the attorney general's office comes to instruct the city council on louisiana open meetings law they need to throw in courses on common sense and the constitution. by the way we wonder what councilman silver's attitude towards this ordinance would be if the city was trying to outlaw a popular type of clothing that he sells?
we're told that a search was done of all the state and federal and appeals courts in the land and so far there are no 'baggy pants' cases been heard. this would seem to make it most ripe for an aclu challenge.
the citizens ought to demand a law that says that when a governmental body willfully and knowingly passes laws that the courts eventually strike down as unconstitutional they should have to pay the attorney fees court costs out of their own pocket (like was needed here for instance and would have helped here too) or better yet resign.
32) To consider final adoption of an ordinance adding Section 15-128 to the Alexandria City Code relative to appropriate dress for persons in certain public places; to prohibit public exposure in certain attire; to provide for fines and civil penalties. (LEGAL 8/28) Charles Frederick Smithfortunately, mayor roy went on record and said that the 'baggy pants' ordinance is "overly broad in scope" and "vague"
two minute video clip of mayor roy's warning on unconstitutionality of alexandria's 'baggy pants' ordinance. item no. 32. clip courtesy of central la politics blog
mayor roy's going on record for the city attorney and himself like this means that he cannot sign this ordinance. it's clear that mayor roy must uphold his oath of office and veto this ordinance.
mayor roy and the rest of the citizens for that matter shouldnt worry about the city council. they are toast and here's why:
on 28 august 2007 in the run up to the council's 5 - 2 veto override vote the city coucil was addressed by a reverend david blunt.. theres some confusion right now as to the actual name of the reverend as rod noles said his name is "brown" but when council president everett hobbs introduced him it sounded to us like he said "reverend david blunt." so if you happen to know the good reverend or you can clarify what his name is, please let us know.
the good reverend told of how he one day he was in his repose and the lord opened his eyes as to what was going on with the mayor and the city council. the reverend said how the lord sent him a "strong premonition" about a new leader who was reading the law and the word and "under him there was a board, a council they were pulling him down and fighting against him" because they "weren't willing to follow leadership."
the lord sent a warning by his servant who is also a brother to the five stiff-necked and lawless ones on the city council and they scoffed at the lord's warning. regardless of the outcome of the roy v alexandria city council lawsuit the fate of the five stiff-necked ones is assured. god will not be mocked.
we see immediately after the good reverend's words the supposed ring-leader of the five, councilman myron lawson was struck with confusion when he said "i have asked for an attorney general's opinion on this matter" and closed by saying that "i just wanted the public to know, that going another step, i've asked for an attorney general's opinion, me personally; not the city counsel." he must have been confused because this gave them the perfect excuse to hold off on the veto override as they could have easily said they wanted to wait for the attorney general opinion. instead councilman lawson used that as an excuse to go ahead with the veto override -- this is confusing since with litigation being commenced in the matter - stops an attorney general opinion.
we applaud the mayor and city attorney for going on record questioning the constitutionality of this silly law. they need to do that in all things. we would be totally flabbergasted [gobsmacked even] if we learn that the mayor does sign this ordinance into law. besides why would the mayor who's aforethought is apparent want to likely and needlessly harm alexandria's reputation as well as put thousands of dollars of tax money at risk for the likes of councilman charles frederick smith's (one of the five stiff-necked ones) dumb ass?

added 9:52 pm cdt thursday 17 august 2006 the city council debate which was first started a few minutes past 6pm and ran until 7:17 pm then they took a 10 minute intermission and resumed with the mayors debate around 7:30.
the central louisiana business league did a very good job putting on the debate. the debaters all spoke well. councilman lawson seems like a nice guy and he gets emotional when he talks about alexandria and family and church and things like that and thats good. where we disagree with him, for example is in one part of one of his orations he summed up his involvement in sports and all the sports teams he has sponsored and started and the city and others are involved in. what he was doing by talking up sports was to subtly remind everyone of the proposed downtown sports arena; we still disagree with him and everyone else out there that is dangling this thinly disguised as a diamond, lump of taxpayer coal.
what possible economic advantage could a downtown sports arena have for alexandria and central louisiana? its probably something that will never ever be built anyway. what after the city gets through paying all the studies and architects, surveyors, engineers, consultants and so forth. the city moreso needs a pier downtown than a sports arena. do you know you can always get a job doing something around a pier? for instance you can work for tips tying and untying ships. then you can make money fetching the newspaper or a meal or supplies for the sailors. we have a burgeoning concierge industry right there. a pier would generate more money more steadily for alexandria's economy than a sports arena. people around here dont go to stuff like that anyway, and you can only have so many monster truck shows. so get real.
councilman silver seems reasonable and his live and let live attitude is certainly a good philosophy. marc lampert did well too. councilman hobbs spoke well and so did his opposition mr hickman.

**flash** special alexandria city council meeting monday morn...
**updated** 12:51 pm cdt monday 25 september 2006
town talk...

The Alexandria City Council today decided to proceed with Saturday's elections in council Districts 2 and 4 despite questions over the boundaries of the districts.
The council met in special session today and learned that only a dozen votes are affected by the boundary dispute. Because of the small number of votes affected, the council decided to proceed with the elections.
There had been the possibility that elections would be delayed for District 2, where incumbent Councilman Everett Hobbs faces challenger Darrell Hickman; and District 4, where incumbent Harry Silver faces Marc Lampert.
Rapides Parish Registrar of Voters Joanell Wilson last week discovered that the wrong map was used to draw council district lines for voting purposes.
original post
absentee voting for next saturdays election began monday. some voters in district 2 and 4 upon going to the registar's office the first day to cast their ballot began to learn that they couldnt vote for their candidate for councilman in the district that they live in due to whats being called a map discrepancy between the rapides area planning commission, the city and the registar's respective map. they are all drawn differently so that the new ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES werent programmed correctly. (or where they?) thats how people found out when they went to vote the machine wouldnt let them. click here to read an anonymous commentator over on cenla antics blog who scooped the MSM and broke the news to the blogosphere around 7 pm wednesday. There will be a Special City Council meeting on
Monday, September 25, 2006 at 11:30 A.M.
in the City Council Chambers to discuss the following:
To consider a report from the Administration and City Attorney on concerns regarding the elections of Council Districts 2 and 4 and To consider adoption of a resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Administration to take necessary actions that may be required.
the registrar of voters said that the election would proceed unless and until someone filed a suit and a judge ruled to stop it. as you can imagine everyone in alexandria is up in arms about it. this morning the town talk website published a story by billy gunn see Alexandria denies it contributed to inaccurate council boundaries in which mr. gunn reported that a baton rouge voting rights attorney leo hamilton who according to the louisiana state bar association website is with the baton rouge law firm of Breazeale, Sachse Wilson, L.L.P. will be at this special city council meeting monday morning. everyone wants to know who in the city called this baton rouge lawyer to come interfere in the election and on what authority and how much it will cost when it should be up to a voter or candidate to file a suit if it should come to that in the first place. look for a good crowd at the city council meeting.
click here to view and toggle the citys official district map from its websiteanother city attorney howard b. "trey" gist, iii, was quoted as saying in that town talk article that the city had the only official map and this map came from the citys website so it must be the official map.

alexandria city government: full of house negros
inspired by, but with apologies to, our pal the field negro
the alexandria, louisiana city councilfrom left to right: myron lawson, harry silver, charles frederick smith,
everett hobbs president, louis marshall, chuck fowler, roosevelt johnson
whats so dismaying and so disturbing to us because quite frankly we have been treated better by some black people in some situations than by our own kind, is to hear people talking in alexandria, at the barber shop, in line at the post office, etc... about for instance the developing utility bill crisis or the cleco case scandal, about how thats what you get when you elect blacks and they take over. no....to this we say - this is what happens when you elect house negro's and house negro's take over.
only a house negro would come up with and vote for alexandria's new abandoned vehicle ordinance and then have the town talk go out and photograph so called abandoned vehicles but only in the black neighborhoods...a field negro on the other hand loves the constitution and the rights that so many people have given so much to bring into force...
a field negro feels just as compassionate for an old white woman who's struggling with her bills as he does for his own grandmother. a field negro never plays the race card because he sees his child and a white child playing in the park and marvels at their example. how it is that what all children only want and only see in another child is a potential friend and playmate. so he knows that racism and prejudice is not an inherent human condition but is taught and passed down in all races from generation to generation;
only a house negro would use taxpayer money to pay for a big party for him and his other house negros. a field negro would say come enjoy the fellowship but only if you can afford it and bring a sack lunch.

"to me it's just robbing people thats all i can see they just robbing people"

only a house negro would accept the excuse that was offered up by alexandria's finance director, david crutchfield, as to whether or not to rescind late penalties on utility bills because "that besides providing an incentive for customers to pay bills on time, the city also receives a lot of money each fiscal year from late payments.
In fiscal year 2004-05, Alexandria received $3 million from late fees and in 2005-06, $1.5 million. So far this fiscal year, which ends April 30, the late payments are around $1 million, Crutchfield said." when every field negro knows that in america the government is by, for and of the people and additionally everything in the city is already owned by the citizens of the city. only a house negro would try to "lord over" the people in such a way.
only house negro's would squander thousands of the taxpayers dollars on such foolish ventures and the dana pitcher boxing event and yeah we will throw que'in on the red in that too and every other bread and circus financed by the city when this looming utility bill crisis is hanging over the peoples heads. a field negro learns from his old enemy the fire ant and stores his provisions in the good times in preparation for the lean times. a field negro is looking out for and thinking about how soon the burning sun will appear and the elderly will be dropping like flies because they cant afford to run their air conditioners.
we have to wonder what the slaves would say about the present situation. would they be pleased? probably not. we imagine that they would be outraged and would say something along the lines of how dare you use our names and our struggle to advance your selfish cause. they would say that you didnt learn anything from us. and that you are just like the slave masters you are only about money, power and controlling other peoples lives.
its time for the field negros to come in from the fields...
