Subject: Chocolateville

This is Chuck Redden, I own and operate radio station's KWJM and KMBS in Monroe, La.
I am indeed the author and creator of the Chocolateville parody song and also the "New Battle Of New Orleans" heard on Walton and Johnson, and other radio stations around the state.

A 'tamer' Ray Stevens version of that song which I also wrote for Country Radio is shipping to radio this week and debuting on the "Jeff Foxworthy Countdown"

Prior to this I also was the creator and writer of "Trial #3" about the Edwin Edwards Trial which was popular in New Orleans in 2000.

My affiliations are with BMI and Curb records/Nashville

Thanks for you interest.

KEEP YOUR VANILLA BUTT OUT OF NEW ORLEANs

Ray Nagin of New Orleans recently referred to New Orleans as "The Chocolate City."

Did he ever stop to think that:

99% of the people who come to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and pump money into their restaurants and hotels are VANILLA?

99% of the people who come to New Orleans for tourism and fill up their restaurants and their hotels are VANILLA?

99% of the people who travel to New Orleans for large conventions and utilize catering services, rental cars, hotels and visit Bourbon Street and all tourist attractions are VANILLA?

99% of the money being pumped into the "Chocolate City's" economy is coming from the pockets of VANILLA people?

Without the money brought into New Orleans by VANILLA people......where would the "chocolate" city be?????

I say if Nagin wants his city to be all chocolate ......then let's give it to him..... Let's take our VANILLA money elsewhere..... We can put our VANILLA money into Biloxi and Gulfport..... You never hear those people complaining about the devastation they suffered during Katrina......and you sure as hell don't hear them calling their city "chocolate."

So keep your VANILLA ass outa tha chocolate factory......lets see if they can make it without our green dollars.....

Send this to every VANILLA person you know..

  6. i think that the pride shown about new orleans being "chocolate" is overated and selfish. new orleans has some of the highest crime rates, worst schools, and even worse politics. the only pride that can be talked about is the past and how the city came to be and what the past has popularized, nothing recent is significant.

the so-called "chocolates" of new orleans are a big part of the crime, corruption, and situation that the city is in. the lyrics of the song may seem harsh and racial, but to me they tell the true story that no one wants to hear. the manners, attitudes, and behaviors of the residents of new orleans seem to fit the song well.

i think new orleans should learn from its mistakes and take this chance to start themselves back off the right way. this is their chance to make the schools better, change the politics, and correct the way people think and act in the city. they need to let go of their old views and ways ofliving to make room for better things.

what mayor nagin said in his speech is the type of thinking and misguided "pride" that people have in a city that has almost nothing good going for it. i agree that tourism is what keeps the city going. people feel that the "chocolates" of the city are what make the city so great, but it isn't great, they are the reason things are the way they are.

so i say that new orleans needs to take advantage of this chance to rebuild and make a difference. people can choose not to commit crimes, they can choose to change their attitudes and views, they can choose to elect honest politicians rather than crooked ones, and they can choose to work hard to make new orleans better than its ever been.

  7. A few months back my wife and I spent the weekend in Vicksburg, Ms. When we checked into the hotel we were embarased to say we were from Louisiana. They told us how the people of New Orleans that stayed there for months literally tried to destroy the place at FEMA's expence. My wife and I were walking around the back of the hotel (Mississippi River side) enjoying the view and noticed all sort of bathroom items pilled up at the end of the building. Well, we found out this heap of torn out lavatories, cabinets were just part of the way the visitors from New Orleans showed their appreciation.
Last week my family went on vacation in San Antonio, Texas. When we checked into the hotel there we were asked if we were from New Orleans. The desk clerk told us about how the people from New Orleans were very rude, and just plain out filthy. They didn't even try to put trash in containers, put cig. butts out anywhere they pleased. She told us they don't ever want to house the people there again. Who could blame them? As for me and my family, as long as Nagin is mayor we will not visit New Orleans again. We used to go there at least once a year . As far as I'm concerned whoever wants to live there or choses to do so they can also suffer whatever consequences Mother Nature dishes out. I don't know of a place where they would be welcome now. Now that their true colors have been shown. J.C. Farmerville, La.
