what millions of christians??

the following letter by ms ruth barden appears in todays town talk. ms barden is one of those gadflys that writes in all the time with her pro christian viewpoint which is fine. however, her own words convict her because we wonder where (are) all these "millions of christians" ms barden speaks of when these laws were being passed? and why does these "millions of christians" keep voting in the same lawmakers year after year? "millions of christians" would seem to be a heck of a voting block, yet nothing ever changes. we think ms barden is full of hot air.

Other people do decide for us

The April 3 letter from Bill Shaw was amusing as he spoke about the "extremists" in our nation. He states that the extreme right took power and now wants to silence anyone and ban anything that disagrees with their own world view, etc.

Then he says, "You don't get to decide for me which ideas are too dangerous and neither do I get to decide for you." How wrong he is on that point, for there are people who have already decided some ideas of the "right" are too dangerous for those who lean to the left.

There are already laws on the books in some of our states forbidding the placing of copies of the Ten Commandments in public places, plainly opposing the wishes and desires of the millions of Christians in the U.S.

There are already laws on the books that are evidently keeping our children from publicly praying to God.
Laws have been passed in various states in America which defy and vilify America's history of marriage between a man and a woman as God directed from the beginning of time.

I understand that some states have laws allowing children under a certain age to obtain an abortion without having to notify their parents. That is certainly a case of some lawmakers making laws contrary to the desires of millions of Christian parents.

It may be that some are happy with the way things are going in the United States, but the way things are going is in direct opposition to the desires of our nation's founders as well as the intentions of the framers of our Constitution and the desires of the millions of Christians.
