the wollemi pine is an australian tree thought to be extinct for millions of years until one day in 1994 when an australian bush walker david noble a nsw wildlife officer happened across a small stand of unknown trees. he took a fallen branch back to study and voila an extinct species was rediscovered. the australians were very diligent in propagating: gathering pine cones and what not.the actual location of this stand of trees is restricted and is supposed to be a "secret. when we first read about the wollemi pines about three or four years ago this was the stage they were at. ever the romantics we have followed the story and researched this tree and it would seem that conditions here in louisiana would be suitable to grow this pine. as you can imagine, the trees are still a bit pricey and maybe one of our great plant nurseries at forest hill, louisiana will order enough to bring the prices down. nevertheless, if you're fortunate enough to plant wollemi pine trees soon let us know if we can see it and maybe get a pine cone from you.
