we dont know how this crew survived the day in all this heat seeing how it was one of mr. klein's xplodin days; all we do know is that no matter what happened they were all having a good time together.

despite the heat the traffic was pretty steady and that was good to see.

mr. klein has some very good tips to keep in mind about superheated cars. the best being dont leave anything in them that you dont want to return to find melted or exploded. it would have been interesting if he would have taken some temperature measurements and a reminder to keep a coating of armor all on the dash.

shiloh baptist church crumbling away

now here are a couple of snaps that we took today of the historic shiloah baptist church located in downtown alexandria, louisiana.

over the past year or so it has received some blogosphere play like at alex cenla here and more than once on cenlamar.com through here.

as far as we know the church is still vacant and still for sale.

about eighteen months or two years or so ago when it was first repainted we thought whoever picked out the color scheme of that burnt orange or whatever and white did an outstanding job and that the building really stood out, looking both attractive and impressive.

now this historic building is starting to resemble a vampire who's been out in the sun for too long. have we been potempkin villaged?

Pedestrian In Roadway Killed In Crash

Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a pedestrian from Pineville, LA

Troopers responded to the crash around 9:00 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 28 East near Trinity Church Road in Rapides Parish.

The crash involved a 2011 Ford Expedition, driven by Clarence Fields (B/M 55 yrs) of Pineville and a pedestrian, identified as Erica L. Terrell (W/F 29 yrs) of Pineville.

The Ford was west bound in the right lane on LA Hwy 28 East when it collided with Terrell. Terrell was walking in the right lane.

Fields was not injured in the crash.

Terrell was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

When walking near a roadway always make yourself visible to drivers by wearing bright/light colored clothing and reflective materials. Pedestrians that are walking at night should try to carry a flashlight for added safety. A person should always walk on a sidewalk, but if there is not a sidewalk available, you should always walk on the shoulder or if no shoulder is available, as close to the roadway edge facing traffic.

Troop E troopers have investigated 39 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 41 fatalities.
