Pedestrian In Roadway Killed In Crash
Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a pedestrian from Pineville, LA
Troopers responded to the crash around 9:00 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 28 East near Trinity Church Road in Rapides Parish.
The crash involved a 2011 Ford Expedition, driven by Clarence Fields (B/M 55 yrs) of Pineville and a pedestrian, identified as Erica L. Terrell (W/F 29 yrs) of Pineville.
The Ford was west bound in the right lane on LA Hwy 28 East when it collided with Terrell. Terrell was walking in the right lane.
Fields was not injured in the crash.
Terrell was pronounced dead.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
When walking near a roadway always make yourself visible to drivers by wearing bright/light colored clothing and reflective materials. Pedestrians that are walking at night should try to carry a flashlight for added safety. A person should always walk on a sidewalk, but if there is not a sidewalk available, you should always walk on the shoulder or if no shoulder is available, as close to the roadway edge facing traffic.
Troop E troopers have investigated 39 fatal crashes for the year of 2011, resulting in 41 fatalities.
