hb79 charlie dewitt & rapides sheriff race

state representative charlie dewitt is rumored to be running for sheriff of rapides parish next year (2007) due to being term limited out of the legislature. we have heard this rumor from several different non blog sources. so, representative dewitt files hb79 to up the supplemental pay of certain law enforcement officers and deputy sheriffs only problem is that his bill didnt even make it out of the state house appropriations committee. will the failure of this bill hurt or help rep. dewitt's chances of running for sheriff?

    1. Interesting post; can you tell me how you look up house bills? I'm interested in finding proof that DeWitt and Farrar were behind rezoning district 27. It has been rumored, but by people who are their opponents.

    2. sure, go to www.legis.state.la.us scroll down to "bill search" "select a session" select session from drop down box then you can "select bills by a certain legislator" or "view a range of instruments" its already preset with hb1 so just press "view" to view all the house bills or select senate bills etc to view them all.

it can be confusing but its easy once you get the hang of it.

we're unsure how to find that particular redistricting information but we would start by viewing all of rep farrar and dewitt's bills first. right now the information goes back all the way to the 1997 regular session.

if you have anymore questions dont hesitate to ask.
