On the afternoon of May seventh, State Representative Mickey Frith visited Paragon Casino and Resort in Marksville. While there, sources tell TV-3, Frith was involved in an altercation. Tunica-Biloxi Police arrested Frith; he was later booked into the Avoyelles Parish Jail. Tribal Police Chief Harold Pierite would give no comment or any details about the arrest. However, Avoyelles Parish booking records show Frith was booked on simple battery charges.

Frith says his wife was playing a slot machine next to him. She went to the restroom and left money in the machine. According to Frith, a man came over to the machine and began playing. He says he told the man his wife left money in the machine and the man stated he put money in as well and began to take the money out. Frith says he told the man he would call security to settle the matter. Frith says before security got there, the man continued to take the money out and Frith says he then grabbed the man by the throat.

Frith says quote "He was stealing my wife's money and I firmly believe no one is going to steal from me."

Frith says he regrets what happened but he did what he had to do. Frith says tribal police told him they had to follow procedure and take him in. He says he understood and went freely.

Frith represents District 47, that includes parts of Vermilion and Cameron parishes. He tells TV-3, the matter is nothing major and he has revisited the casino. We spoke with the Avoyelles Parish District Attorney's Office and they say no court date has been set.
