lynn rollins & ksyl's talk back 970 show slam moon griffon

.mp3 here
says griffons' 'schtick' "very shallow and ill researched"

this happened yesterday (monday 11 july 2006) during ksyl's talkback live program and we had to wait until they posted the show's .mp3 because we werent recording at the time.

anyway, a caller phoned in to say that all anyone needed to do to find out what was going on in this state was to listen to the moon griffon show because the town talk doesnt really cover anything. (which is true by the way) lynn rollins replied that he couldnt "salute that" and that griffon isnt an idealist and is just an entertainer and "this is the way [griffon] makes his living."

yes moon is annoying when hes always referring to faux news as the definitive news source, yes moon is annoying when hes playing up george w. bush, the bush crime family, the fake war on terror and the illegal and immoral iraq war.

moon is also irritating when he gives what amounts to hours of free air time to goofs like rodney alexander and piyush "bobby" jindal. yes yes a lot of you think that piyush jindal (who chose the cutsey kennedyesque name of "bobby") is going to bring home the bacon as far as louisiana's fair share in the offshore oil royalties - thats not gonna happen. do you really think for a minute that evil incarnate vp dick cheney and his halliburton, kellogg brown & root and the other defense contractor gang are going to give up all those billions of dollars? whats going on there is that the big boys in washington are merely allowing jindal some favorable publicity going into next years governor's race. ol piyush is being groomed for a national office probably vice president in 2008 provided he wins the governors race next year. we warn you that a vote for jindal as well as rodney alexander, charlie melancon, jim mccrey, richard baker, charles boustany, david vitter and mary landrieu is a vote against your, your children and your children's children best interest. they all voted for the usa patriot act hence they are all traitors to the constitution and the bill of rights. they are for an unfetterted read dictatorial executive, cradle to grave total survelliance police state a hell on earth that will turn us all into slaves to the state. so yeah moon griffon doesnt know a damn thing when it comes to national politics.

however, as far as louisiana state politics goes and yes moon gets some things wrong but speaking as people that have since katrina and rita have been intently watching the legislature (did you that you can go on the legislative website and view the committee meetings and the house and senate in session live by video?) we know for a fact that our louisiana legislators are a bunch of crooks, halfwits, nitwits and buffons. the whole lot of them should be taken out and horse whipped then tarred and feathered. so the point is that moon gets people to think. this is worthwhile.

so while moon from time to time irritates us we just ignore him at those times. actually he shouldnt even comment on national politics.

I got my bachelor's in Natchitoches. Our options for a newspaper were Alexandria or Natchitoches. The letters to the editor in both papers were enough to make me want to slit my wrists.

And Bobby Jindal. Ugh. Thanks for pointing out the Kennedy reference there.

    2. your welcome. natchitoches huh? did you know that they are currently filming a john goodman/chris kattan film there?

Filming of TV movie set today in Natchitoches; extras needed

Filming of “The Year Without a Santa Claus,” a TV movie starring John Goodman and Chris Kattan, will take place today through Friday in the Natchitoches Historic District.

Front Street will be closed from from 10 a.m. to midnight today through Friday.

No parking will be allowed in all parallel parking spaces along Front Street from Rue Touline to Rue Horne.

Motorists are encouraged to park on Second Street and other areas within the Historic District, city officials said.

The Church Street Bridge will be closed during certain times of filming, and drivers are asked to seek alternate transportation routes.

Natchitoches police will direct traffic during filming.

Downtown shops and restaurants will maintain normal store hours and will continue to be open for business, city officials said.

Meanwhile, extras for the movie are being sought to re-create the popular, annual Christmas festival. Movie producers have a goal of getting at least 1,000 people to commit to spending three days downtown to participate in the filming process.

The extras won’t be paid, but activities, food and a chance at some big door prizes are planned as a means of keeping the folks entertained.

“They have to come and stay the whole time. That’s why some activities are planned,” said Courtney Hornsby, Natchitoches Events Center manager and city spokeswoman.

The extras will be needed from 2 p.m. to about midnight today through Friday. Door prizes, which will be awarded each evening, include a plasma television, Xbox and other electronics. Inflatable games and a climbing wall are among the activities that will be provided on the riverfront for the extras.

Everyone should dress as they would for the Christmas festival. All genders, races and ages are needed, Hornsby said.

All of the downtown storefronts are decorated for Christmas.

"It's pretty wild to have this in July," Hornsby said.

The city of Natchitoches entered into a cooperative-endeavor agreement with the movie company that will allow it to be compensated for expenses incurred this week.

Preparations have involved city staff, especially the utility crews that have spent days stringing Christmas lights in the downtown area and erecting some of the lighting displays on the riverbank. Most of the attention is focused on the southern end of Cane River Lake, Hornsby said.

    3. Wow. Didn't know that. I guess the people there will have something else to gloat about besides their "Steel Magnolias" claim to fame from 2 decades ago.

Too bad I don't live there anymore. Imagine - something exciting in Natchitoches.

    4. steel magnolias was da bomb back in the day. lol. that scene in the beauty shop where julia roberts character goes into diabetic shock still gives us shivers.

    5. It's still one of my favorite movies. But, getting stuck behind the freaking trolly in "rush hour" in Natchitoches while it passes by all of the houses the film used gets to be a little OLD. lol.

    6. Slowly i'm finding I miss Natchitoches more than Alexandria. It may not have been the best place to spend six years but I never felt like I lived in Bibleville, USA.
