more 419 spam

shortly after we read this article from the town talk's website this morning about an internet connected scam we received the following email. actually we receive these type emails all the time but the timing of this article and the receipt was interesting to us. apparantly, there are a lot of people that fall victim to these scams even people around central louisiana. anyway, if you receive these type emails you should just delete them.

town talk snip:

Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating an Internet scam that landed nearly $20,000 worth of counterfeit traveler's checks on the doorstep of a local resident...the scam is done on the Internet and starts with the victim being contacted. The scammer tells the person that he or she is from another country and needs to send traveler's checks to the United States for some reason or another. The victim has to send a certain amount of money and the traveler's checks are sent. The two will meet with the foreign visitor when he or she arrives in the U.S. to spend the checks. However, the checks are counterfeit, and the victim loses the initial money sent, investigators said.

My Dear Friend,

Greetings:

I am sorry for sending you this message for the second time, please bear
with me and respond.
My name is Mr. Melvin Samson I work as an accountant in a bank; I contacted
you to work together with me in claiming my late client's estate.
Unfortunately he died without a registered next of kin and as such the funds
now have an open beneficiary status. You could be made the beneficiary since
you share the same last name with him.

This has officially transferred the right to you, as no other person from
his family knows anything about this fund with our bank.If you are
interested in working with me,

please get back to me as quickly as possible so that I give you the details
of what we are to do. I wait for your prompt response so that I can give
you more briefing of what you need to and how to do it.

Thanks for your co-operation.

Best regards,

Melvin.
