lamestream media alert

we just read a baton rouge advocate article by marsha shuler (see link) currently linked from the dead pelican and captioned: "Lawmaker seeks changes in ethics."

the article is written in such a way as to make it appear that two louisiana legislators are in trouble for merely "speaking against legislation that eliminated the jobs of relatives who are Orleans Parish tax assessors." the article is written in such a deceptive way that it makes it look like legislators free speech rights are being infringed when thats not the case at all. the two louisiana state representatives in question didnt just discuss or speak out about a particular piece of legislation they actually killed it by voting against it in committee..

the trouble with louisiana's lamestream media is that they do little to no research in writing their stories that or they have no memory or more likely they have an agenda.

so we fired off an email to ms. schuler:

Subject: Lawmaker seeks changes in ethics

dear ms shuler,

while it may be true "State Reps. Jeff Arnold and Alex Heaton face conflict-of-interest charges for speaking against legislation that eliminated the jobs of relatives who are Orleans Parish tax assessors."

they didnt just speak against that legislation [HB50] as you write: they actually voted against it in committee and their two votes helped kill that particular bill in committee as it failed 6-8. as documented by louisiana political blogger c b forgotston here:

and by us here:

-END-

moral of the story: trust very little to nothing that you read in louisiana's lamestream media.
