anti-fluoridation knowledge going mainstream
recently americans for limited government, chairman, howard rich, penned a piece to their netright daily.com blog project entitled: "fighting fluoridation: fringe no more."
it's encouraging to see articles about the hazard and folly of water fluoridation in more mainstream outlets because so many people simply will not believe anything is true until the main stream media tells them so.
with this article you can now consider yourself as having permission to discuss water fluoridation without risk of being tagged a conspiracy theorist.
as far as louisiana -- louisiana has a mandatory water fluoridation law in effect since 2008. yes 2008 not 1958. this is due to the machinations of corrupt, criminal, lake charles democratic state senator, willy landry mount and her state house partner in crime, corrupt, criminal, monroe rino, kay "bucket of bolts" katz.
mount's SB312 was signed into law by that subversive rino weasel piyush "bobby" jindal.

the tea party of louisiana is rethuglican controlled garbage
from la newslink via the dead pelican we learn that "the tea party of louisiana," has endorsed louisiana gop chairman, roger villere for lieutenant governor. what a freaking joke!
villere is the worst excuse for (1) a gop party boss and (2) a republican. he's been working for years to destroy the republican party.
also notice at the bottom in the commentary, whoever posts the la newslinks site wrote, that "last week, the tea party of louisiana endorsed congressman bill cassidy for re-election." this is even more evidence that "the tea party of louisiana is nothing more than rethuglican controlled opposition.
did you know that quack doctor bill cassidy last year voted for the federal hate crimes bill? this bill will eventually make (among other things) preaching from the king james bible a "hate crime." last year cassidy also voted for barky's "give act."
cassidy in 2008 as a state senator played a major role in getting passed SB 312 the louisiana mandatory water fluoridation bill. this was the bill authored by corrupt criminal lake charles democratic state senator willie landry mount and pushed through the state house by monroe criminal rino kay "bucket of bolts" katz.
anyone of these votes by cassidy is all anyone with any level of common sense would need to understand that cassidy is a rino and that cassidy is garbage.
leave the tea party of louisiana now. dont have anything to do with any tea party that is endorsing or promoting any republican politicians and/or that has republican speakers like sarah palin and newt['s a hoot] gingrich.
for all we know this tea party mess was set up by the criminal network to get a list of names of potential "disgruntled americans" (read: domestic terrorists) together.
also notice how you cant find any information from off its website exactly who is behind this mysterious group.
we can see that they already are working with the republicans. if they will work with that bunch of crooks they will work with anyone.
are louisianaians ever going to grow tired of being raped like a retarded girl over and over again?

Alan Levine Secretary of DHH QUITS
dhh internal email obtained by wst... why do we have to have jews running the department of health & hospitals?
with this criminal's help, louisiana got a mandatory water fluoridation bill (SB 312) signed into law by that weasel piyush "bobby" jindal. the bill was authored by corrupt criminal lake charles democratic state senator willie landry mount and was pushed through the state house by monroe rino kay "bucket of bolts" katz.
Good afternoon.
Well, as many of you may have heard by now, I have announced my decision to step down as Secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals. This was a tough decision for me to make, but the right one for me and my family.
When I got to Baton Rouge in January, 2008, I was welcomed to Louisiana with open arms and treated as though I was family. A day hasn’t gone by when I have not met someone new who made me laugh, or be in awe at their story. Louisiana is a treasure and a state I’m proud to call my adopted home.
We have been through a Mississippi river flood, an oil spill in the Mississippi, two major hurricanes, a worldwide pandemic, major gas explosions in North Louisiana and a series of financial challenges unparalleled in state history. And that’s just in the last two years. Now, we have an oil spill we have been on the front lines of fighting. And in each case, DHH has responded with a professional urgency I am proud of. People are safer because DHH was effective.
We have pushed for many reforms. The legislature passed most of them. I know everyone at DHH doesn’t agree with positions I have taken, and in fact, some may have passionately disagreed. I will tell you that criticism is an essential part of governing, and I’m grateful to those of you who have given me constructive advice and criticism with the goal of helping us make better decisions. The reforms we pushed for, I believe, are essential to the future of Louisiana, particularly given what will be ongoing financial challenges that will last for several years. We must be smaller, more agile, and continue finding ways to deliver services cost effectively.
I’m proud of the progress we have made related to our children. We have continued to lead the nation in insuring children, and we have moved from 48th in the nation in child immunization to #2 in the nation. This has impacted our overall health ranking. It’s something everyone at DHH should be proud of.
I want to thank all of you for the commitment you make to our mission every day. I know you believe in it, and it’s a blessing to be able to serve. I am someone who believes in prayer, and I promise you I will pray for your success because so many people depend on it.
Your new Secretary, Bruce Greenstein, is the right guy for the job. He will be moving here from Washington State, where he currently serves as the Worldwide director of health care for Microsoft. He has worked at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and for the GAO. So, he has a great track record of public and private service. He’s got integrity, and I’m so glad he was willing to serve.
I will be here until August 1. At that time, Tony Keck will be the acting secretary until Bruce arrives September 13.
For those of you who are die hard LSU fans, today, I’m wearing my LSU tie as a tribute to those of you who have had some fun with me over the last couple of years. But rest assured, on October 9, 2010, in Gainesville, I will be wearing Orange and Blue! But know that that game will always be special to me, as it will remind me of the great people I have met, and friends I have made in the great state of Louisiana.
Thank you!
Alan

limit fluoride to prevent lead poisioning researchers say
wst... note: in the 2008 regular louisiana legislative session, corrupt, lake charles democratic state senator willie landry mount, authored and submitted her SB 312 a mandatory water fluoridation scheme for louisiana.
SB 312 was shepherded through the state house by monroe rino kay "bucket of bolts" katz.
the bill was signed into law that year as ACT 761 by that rino fraud piyush "bobby" jindal.
New York – March 16 – Fluoride chemicals added to public water supplies, boosts lead absorption in lab animals’ bones, teeth and blood, report Sawan, et al. (Toxicology 2/2010). Earlier studies already show children’s blood-lead-levels are higher in fluoridated communities, reports Sawan’s research team.
“…exposure to increased amounts of lead and fluoride occurs at about the same age (1-3 years)… Therefore, this is a critical time when systemic exposure to fluoride should be minimized since fluoride may increase lead accumulation,” the researchers caution.
Low-level lead exposure is associated with lower IQ, ADHD and many health and behavior ailments.
Fluosilicic acid (fluoride), added to water supplies ostensibly to reduce tooth decay, often contains lead (NSF International).
Sawan’s team put fluosilicic acid, with and without lead, into lab animals’ drinking water. They found more lead in tooth enamel, surface bone, whole bone, and tooth dentine in rats co-exposed to fluoride and lead.
Possibly anticipating criticism that rats were fed higher fluoride-concentrated water than people drink, the authors write, “this concentration was chosen because it produces plasma fluoride levels that are comparable with those commonly found in humans…”
Increased prevalence and severity of fluoride-discolored teeth (fluorosis) proves US children are already fluoride-overexposed "which may cause their blood-lead levels to increase and produce more lead toxicity,” they write.
“These findings suggest that a biological effect, not recognized so far, may underlie the epidemiological association between increased blood-lead levels in children and water fluoridation,” concludes Sawan’s research team.
“[O]ur findings may have serious implications for populations exposed to increased amounts of both lead and fluoride, particularly young children,” the research team writes.
Attorney Paul Beeber, President, New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation (NYSCOF) says, “People need to lobby and petition their legislators to stop fluoridation in their towns, cities and states. Legislators are ignoring the science proving fluoridation is endangering our health, our water supplies and wasting tax dollars while denying freedom of choice.” (see: http://www.fluoridealert.org/health/sitemap.html )
Masters and Coplan’s landmark studies show higher blood-lead-levels in children living in silico-fluoridated communities (Neurotoxicology 2000, 2007). Macek’s research shows children’s higher blood-lead-levels are associated with water fluoridation when lead is already in the environment (Environmental Health Perspectives, 2006).
Some fluoridation chemicals originate in China, Mexico and Japan, reports the CDC. ABC-TV Boston reported that a Massachusetts city was forced to discontinue fluoridation because Chinese fluoridation chemicals were clogging up the water system with an unidentifiable contaminant.
CBS-TV Atlanta reports: “Fluoride, Friend or Foe.”

FAN Bulletin 1066: Report from Connett's Louisiana visit
April 27, 2009
Here is a short diary of last week's events, which were co-sponsored by LEAN and Citizens Opposed to Fluoridation (COF) in Lafayette.
Monday April 20. Lafayette.
My visit got off to a cracking start when the Lafayette newspaper (The Daily Advertiser) ran an article on top of the front page entitled Fluoridation debate revived. The article discussed a motion being prepared by City-Parish Council chairman Purvis Morrison asking for state representatives to repeal the mandatory fluoridation bill. The article pointed out that the installation of the fluoridation equipment would cost $654,200 and another $530,000 annually to run the system. The article plugged the meeting where I was to speak the following evening.
In the afternoon, I was featured on a one-hour live program on a public access cable TV station station (AOC). AOC has already showed the FAN DVD "Professional Perspectives on Fluoridation" several times. For this live program I was interviewed by Dr. Jim Reeves, a retired Professor of Engineering, who has been leading the charge to keep fluoridation out of Lafayette. In the evening I had dinner with COF members along with the president of the local chapter of the Sierra Club as well as a peace activist Vic Hummert (and his wife Rose), who I have known for over 20 years.
Tuesday April 21, Lafayette.
We had a very early start. I was driven over to a local radio station KPEL for a live interview at 6:30 am with Robert Burton. Then at 9:30 am I went (via phone) on a popular statewide radio call-in program hosted by Moon Griffon. At noon with both Dr. Jim Reeves and local political strategist par excellence, Carroll Baudoin (his group Concerned Citizens for Good Government has also been very helpful in helping COF get this issue on the radar screen), we made a joint appearance on a local TV program "Meet Your Neighbor" (Channel 10). In all these media appearances the hosts very generously promoted the lecture I was to give that evening.
Before that lecture, again with Jim Reeves and Carroll Baudoin, and other members of their respective groups, I went to the local council officers and met the mayor's assistant and received a certificate making me an "Honorary Cajun"!
At 6:40 pm I testified before the City-Parish Council in support of the motion opposing fluoridation in Lafayette, but had to leave before three dentists spoke against the motion. We learned later that the motion passed 8 to 1.
It is interesting to note that even though three dentists were willing to speak solo in support of fluoridation at this council meeting not one of them, nor any one else in Lafayette in favor of fluoridation, was prepared to debate me at the public meeting that same evening, even though they were invited to do so.
The 7:00 pm lecture took place in Hamilton Hall on the local University campus. In all about 100 people attended this meeting, representing a very large cross section of the community. It included students and professors from the University; citizens who had fought off fluoridation in Lafayette 20 years ago as well as many people - both young and old - new to the issue. I spoke for about 90 minutes and my presentation was followed by a lively question and answer session. Again we got very nice coverage in the local paper.
I was most impressed with the local group COF who had put these events together at fairly short notice. I was also gratified to see how much interest the local media is taking in the issue.
Wednesday April 22, Baton Rouge
On Wednesday morning, I set off with Jim and Carroll to Baton Rouge. Our first port of call was the local Public TV station where I had an in-depth taped interview for statewide airing. Both the interviewer and the cameraman were very interested in the topic and I think we will get a fair shake with this program. It will air statewide possibly in two parts.
In Baton Rouge we were joined by Mark Galasso, a musician, photographer and son of a prominent educator in Baton Rouge. Mark is extremely upset by the way this practice is being forced down Louisiana citizens' throats and is doing everything he can to help get the law rescinded.
In the afternoon, we met up with Mary Lee Orr, and Kathy Wascomb, the director and lobbyist for LEAN respectively. We first met with the director of the Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) Alan Levine and three other members of his department.
We explained our concerns about the mandatory bill and all listened very attentively but I was shocked at how little they knew about the fluoridation issue. No one on the staff claimed to have read the NRC (2006) review. They agreed to review any literature we sent them and get the response of the Louisiana Dental Association. We got the distinct impression that they were prepared to let the dentists lead on this issue.
After the DHH we went to the Department of Environmental Quality and spoke with the deputy director (and two of his staff) who has very good relations with LEAN and was more than willing to listen and stands by ready to help if he can find a way of doing so.
Everywhere we went Carroll and Jim handed out copies of FAN's new DVD "Professional Perspective on Fluoridation." What a tool that is proving to be.
Thursday April 23, Baton Rouge
At 9:30 am I appeared on another popular radio show and those interested can listen to my 12 minute interview:
audio link
The only other event that day was a very long and thorough interview with the local Baton Rouge newspaper.
All in all, I count this a very productive (and enjoyable) trip, not only helping with the local battles in Lafayette and Baton Rouge but also in getting the message out statewide.
Watching how well LEAN is organized my only regret is that I did not contact them earlier while the mandatory bill was being quietly slipped through the legislature.
Had I done so I think we would have had a much better chance of defeating it. But at least, two major cities are not allowing this mandatory bill to impose fluoridation on them without putting up a major fight.
While I was away two important developments took place.
An excellent article came to light that was published last October in Integrated HealthCare Practitioners, a Canadian publication. The article is entitled Motherhood, Apple Pie and Fluoridation: A Critical Evaluation of Fluoridation Practices in Canada , by Dr. Brian McLean, BSc, DDS.
It looks as if we have found another well-informed dentist with the courage to speak out on this issue. I am sure Dr. Hardy Limeback will be delighted to get this moral and intellectual support from another member of his profession - up till now he has received little from that quarter but abuse.
He should remember what Schopenhauer said. "All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."
Paul Connett
PS: Don't forget to get as many people as you know to visit FANs web site where they can order our latest DVD "Professional Perspectives on Fluoridation" online. Please let us know if you are able to get this shown on your local public access cable TV station.

A local group that successfully fought fluoridation of Lafayette's drinking water in the 1980s has resurfaced to fight the latest attempt mandated by the state.
The state Legislature adopted a bill in 2008 and Gov. Bobby Jindal signed into law Act 761 requiring fluoridation of drinking water by 26 public water suppliers that serve 5,000 or more customers in Louisiana. That includes Lafayette Utilities System.
"Years ago we had a group and kept it out of Lafayette," resident Jean Hunt said. She is a member of Citizens Opposing Fluoridation. "Our goal is to keep it out of the state and definitely out of Lafayette."
The group sponsored a presentation Tuesday night at UL by Paul Connett, executive director of the Fluoride Action Network which was attended by 70 to 80 people.
"It's a poor medical practice. It is unethical. It is unnecessary," Connett said of adding fluoride to public drinking water.
But many dentists and other health experts say fluoridation is the simplest way to protect children from tooth decay. About 60 percent of the United States population already receives fluoridated public water.
Engineers can control how much fluoride they add to drinking water supplies, but they cannot control how much water - hence how much fluoride - people consume every day, Connett said.
"You're forcing medication on individuals without their informed consent," which is unethical, Connett said.
Too much fluoride can be harmful, causing thyroid, dental and bone problems, he said.
Fluoridating water is an inefficient way to administer the chemical anyway, since most water is sent down the drain with baths, showers, washing machines and toilets, retired UL Chemical Engineering Professor James Reeves said.
Twenty-three studies in four continents show too much fluoride reduces a child's IQ and causes brittle bones in the elderly, he said.
Niall Campbell of Lafayette has personal reasons for opposing the state mandate.
"Because it's a toxic waste and I'm going to have my first grandchild in August, and it will be raised here in Lafayette," she said. link or download .pdf

cdc: cancer-causing toxins detected in fluoride chemicals
wst... note: in the 2008 louisiana regular legislative session, corrupt, lake charles democratic state senator, willie landry mount, authored her senate bill number 312 which mandates the fluoridation of louisiana's drinking water.
sb 312 was pushed through the state house by monroe rino, kay "bucket of bolts" katz.
current candidate for louisiana public service commission, joe mcpherson was an author of sb312.
on 06 july 2008, louisiana's rino governor piyush "bobby" jindal signed sb 312 into law becoming act 761.
Cancer-Causing Toxins Detected in Fluoride Chemicals
New York -- April 8, 2008 – Traces of arsenic, copper, lead and other impurities were found in samples of chemicals used to fluoridate public water supplies between the years 2000 and 2006, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). (1)
Controversial fluoridation schemes are promoted by special-interest groups such as the American Dental Association (ADA) which claims adding fluoride chemicals to public water supplies reduces tooth decay. "Most public and government officials take their lead from the ADA," says attorney Paul Beeber, President, New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation, Inc.
Arsenic was detected in 43% of the 245 water fluoridation chemicals sampled by NSF International which regulates public water supply additives. (2)
Arsenic may increase cancer risk, according to the EPA which sets the Maximum Contaminant Level Goal of arsenic in water supplies at zero.(3)
Also 3% of the samples contained copper; 2% contained lead; and less than 1% contained barium, chromium, mercury, selenium or thallium. Silicates, the second most prevalent substance in fluoridation chemicals, are not health regulated.
Although no radionuclides or beryllium were found in these samples, 0.4 parts-per-billion is allowed.
Bottled water suppliers, who add fluoride, typically follow the same standards, according to the CDC. (1)
Community water fluoridation uses industrial-waste fluoride (silicofluorides). However, pharmaceutical grade fluoride may also be contaminated. According to the CDC, “Given the volumes of chemicals used in water fluoridation, a pharmaceutical grade of sodium fluoride for fluoridation could potentially contain much higher levels of arsenic, radionuclides, and regulated heavy metals than a NSF/ANSI Standard 60-certified product [the standard that water fluoridation chemicals must meet].”
The FDA regulates bottled water. But it’s almost impossible to know how much fluoride is in the bottle, unless you call the manufacturer, because:
-- Domestic bottled water with no added fluoride may contain between 1.4 and 2.4 mg/L fluoride
-- Imported bottled water with no added fluoride may not contain fluoride in excess of 1.4 mg/L.
-- Domestic bottled water with added fluoride can contain between 0.8 and 1.7 mg/L fluoride
-- Imported bottled water with added fluoride may not contain more than 0.8 mg/L fluoride.
Bottlers are not required to list any naturally-occurring fluoride on the labels.(1)
“Fluoridation is irrational whether it’s coming from the tap or the bottle,” says Beeber. "It's time to leave fluoride chemicals and all their contaminants out of every water source."
Over 2,300 professionals urge the US Congress to stop water fluoridation until Congressional hearings are conducted, citing scientific evidence that fluoridation, long promoted to fight tooth decay, is ineffective and has serious health risks. See statement: http://www.fluorideaction.org/statement.august.2007.html.
Also, eleven Environmental Protection Agency employee unions representing over 7000 environmental and public health professionals called for a moratorium on drinking water fluoridation programs across the country, and have asked EPA management to recognize fluoride as posing a serious risk of causing cancer in people. the central louisiana breastfeeding coalition has been receiving some publicity in the local press, such as the gannett/shreveport times here and the gannett/town talk here.
we certainly appreciate these mothers, fathers and other interested individuals that make up the coalition; who are working hard to improve the health of the newest, most vulnerable and cherished members of the central louisiana community.
we are thankful as well, to the below businesses who are enrolled in the coalitions "mom at work" program:

perusing the coalitions great website we came across their page "breastfeeding facts" and was disappointed to see that not included with their data is one of the most pressing reasons why breastfeeding is so important, especially these days, which is the presence of state mandated *fluoride in our louisiana drinking water.
according to the fluoride action network: health effects: fluoride warnings for infants:
excerpt:
*in the 2008 regular louisiana legislative session, corrupt lake charles democrat, state senator, willie landry mount aided in the state house by monroe rino, kay "bucket of bolts" katz, pushed through, by stealth, mount's senate bill no. 312 which will mandate the fluoridation of louisiana's water supply.Fluoride Exposure During InfancyIn contrast to recommendations adopted in the 1950s, fluoride supplementation is no longer recommended for newborn children. This includes both fluoride in drops, and fluoride in drinking water.
Not only is fluoride ingestion during infancy unnecessary, it can also be harmful - as suggested by a mounting body of evidence linking fluoride exposure during the first year of life with the development of dental fluorosis. (For pictures of dental fluorosis, click here)
Because of the risk for dental fluorosis, and the lack of demonstrable benefit from ingesting fluoride before teeth erupt, the American Dental Association - and a growing number of dental researchers - recommend that children under 12 months of age should not consume fluoridated water while babies under 6 months of age should not receive any fluoride drops or pills.
Fluoridated drinking water contains up to 200 times more fluoride than breast milk (1000 ppb in fluoridated tap water vs 5-10 ppb in breast milk).
As a result, babies consuming formula made with fluoridated tap water are exposed to much higher levels of fluoride than a breast-fed infant. (A baby drinking fluoridated formula receives the highest dosage of fluoride among all age groups in the population (0.1-0.2+ mg/kg/day), whereas a breast-fed infant receives the lowest).
Dental fluorosis is not the only risk from early-life exposure to fluoride. ~ read more

louisiana legislators who delete their emails unread
in the 2008 regular louisiana legislative session, corrupt lake charles democratic state senator, willie landry mount introduced her senate bill no. 312 which calls for the mass medicating without informed consent of louisianaians by mandating the fluoridation of our water supply.
we didnt even know about the bill until we were contacted by an out of state group, you'd think that a bill of this magnitude would be reported on by every newspaper and television station in the state - so much for the main stream media keeping us informed.
the only reference to sb312 that we could find in the media was a short blurb in the baton rouge morning advocate paper in which they attempted to marginalize those opposed to fluoridation out to be conspiracy theorists -- this is despite the fact that many scientists, chemists, nobel prize winning scientists and other exceptional scientists and researchers from leading university's and institution's - you know, people that could hardly be called conspiracy theorists, have been researching and reporting for years on the health hazards associated with humans and animals ingesting fluoride.

'Up until the 1990s, no research had ever been conducted to determine the impact of fluoride on the pineal gland - a small gland located between the two hemispheres of the brain that regulates the production of the hormone melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone that helps regulate the onset of puberty and helps protect the body from cell damage caused by free radicals.sb312 had already passed both the senate and house health committees and was before a conference committee.
It is now known - thanks to the meticulous research of Dr. Jennifer Luke from the University of Surrey in England - that the pineal gland is the primary target of fluoride accumulation within the body.' Read more...
like many others, we emailed and phoned the offices of the members of the conference committee but sb312 passed out of the senate.
that left the hope of stopping sb312 in the state house. so we emailed all the house members or thought we did. if any reps. name is missing its because we have never heard back or overlooked emailing them.
but see -- its pointless to email louisiana legislators. some, not all maybe, will just delete your email unread. if we hadnt requested a read receipt we would have never known the emails were deleted unread.
arent emails to government officials a public record? if so, then isnt deleting them the same as destroying a public record? aside from that, what this shows is that the legislature is not listening to the concerns of the citizenry -- and yet they think that they have the right to or are even intelligent enough to call for the mass medication of the citizenry by mandating the addition of a dangerous chemical to our water supply.
sb312 was signed into law on 06 july 2008 by gov. piyush "bobby" jindal.
look at the dates the email(s) were sent and the date that they were deleted.

Fluoride and Organized Dentistry: Big Losers this Election Day
New York – November 12, 2008 -- Fifty-three cities rejected fluoridation in referenda held in four states on November 4, 2008, according to the Fluoride Action Network (FAN).
Lobbied by the Nebraska Dental Association and supported by the American Dental Association (ADA), the Nebraska legislature passed a law in April 2008, over the Governor’s veto, to require all Nebraska cities with populations over 1,000 to add fluoride chemicals into water supplies unless cities opt-out by 2010. Forty-nine Nebraska cities said “no thanks” in referenda on Election Day.
Corning NY residents passed a citizen-initiated referendum to rescind their city council's right to decide the issue for them - effectively halting fluoridation. A pro-fluoridation dentist raised $100,000, mostly from dental organizations, to fund the fluoridation scheme. Corning joins 15 NY State communities that have rejected fluoridation in past years.
Also voting down fluoridation: Prairie du Chien, Wisconisn; Jackman and Moose River, Maine.
“Once again we have seen confirmed - from Maine to Nebraska - that informed citizens, when given a choice, will reject fluoridation," says FAN Executive Director, Paul Connett, PhD. “This is not surprising considering twenty-three studies now link fluoride exposure to lowered IQ.”
According to Connett, these rejections bode well for a citizen fight back in Louisiana. After years of trying, the ADA and the Louisiana Dental Association expended much money and lobbying efforts to finally convince a novice group of Louisiana State Legislators to pass a fluoridation mandate law this year. However, cities can still opt out after petitioning 15 percent of registered voters for a referendum which must then pass by a majority of voters.
Alamo Heights, Texas rejected fluoridation in September 2008. A city council member who is a retired geophysicist, with a keen interest in research and the time to do it, confronted Texas “fluoridation experts” who were unable to answer important safety questions. As a result, the council unanimously said “No” to fluoridation.
Other US cities rejecting fluoridation in 2008 prior to Election Day: Littleton and Yarmouth, Massachusetts; Poughkeepsie, NY; Manila, California; Marion, Wisconsin.
In Canada: Quebec City, Quebec; Dryden, Welland, Pelham, and parts of Thorold, Ontario
In the UK: Isle of Man; Pendle, Hyndburn, and Lancashire, England.
In New Zealand: Alexandra, Earnslceugh/Manuheriki and Cromwell.

john labruzzo: more evidence that the republican party really is the stupid party
times-picayune excerpt:Worried that welfare costs are rising as the number of taxpayers declines, state Rep. John LaBruzzo, R-Metairie, said Tuesday he is studying a plan to pay poor women $1,000 to have their Fallopian tubes tied.
"We're on a train headed to the future and there's a bridge out," LaBruzzo said of what he suspects are dangerous demographic trends. "And nobody wants to talk about it."
LaBruzzo said he worries that people receiving government aid such as food stamps and publicly subsidized housing are reproducing at a faster rate than more affluent, better-educated people who presumably pay more tax revenue to the government. He said he is gathering statistics now. ~ read more
hurricane gustav evacuees [video here]the question that no one ever asks is where in the republican party platform is a policy like this even addressed?
for example, the louisiana republican party's 2008 platform at article iv: sanctity of life
#6 "we support all developments in biomedical research and technology that enhance and protect human life. but we oppose any new development that does not treat all human life as a precious gift of god, or that does not treat every individual human life as a locus of unique and irreplaceable dignity no matter how weak, immature, or dependent." click here to download the 2008 louisiana republican party platform. [eight page .pdf]the 2008 national republican party platform calls for the repeal of the sixteenth amendment, which established the federal income tax. [.pdf page 31] why isnt representative labruzzo and the rest of the republicans as well as everyone else talking about that? think of how much more money everyone would have on hand and could even save some, if there was no federal income tax. caveat: the republicans want to repeal the sixteenth amendment and replace it with an equally egregious national sales tax or even worse value added tax.
another question that no one ever asks is where is the republican party leadership at and why do they never speak out against all these fake republican crackpots, fraudsters and rino's who are authoring/cosponsoring and voting for anti-republican legislation?
is it because of reagan's so called "eleventh commandment?" well guess what, ronnie raygun was not god and just because he said something does not make it so or even necessarily a good idea. in fact, this "thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow republican" garbage actually hampers the republican party.
what a minute you say, what about the greater new orleans republicans who came out and criticized representative labruzzo? well a closer look at gnor's statements shows a pattern by them that is very mysterious, suspicious as well as deceptive.
in a statement dated 5:10 p.m. 24 september 2008 and posted to the dead pelican website representatives of the gnor wrote [excerpts] "this is one of the dumbest ideas i have ever heard of." "...against the republican party plank..." ah, theres mention of the seldom if ever mentioned republican party plank. click here to view the screen grab.
then, apparently what happened was that an even bigger criminal in the republican party read that statement, didnt like it and ordered the "young professionals" at gnor to change it -- because:
a new, much shorter statement dated 9:49 p.m. was suddenly posted without explanation to the dead pelican. in the new statement gone was any mention of a republican party plank. because, we suspect, they cant afford to have people thinking that there is actually a written guide that they are supposed to be relying on now can they?
replacing the plank wording was the much more ambiguous "...representative labruzzo's advocacy for sterilizing women is contrary to the gop..." someone also removed the names of the gnor president j.t. hannan and board president mike bayham as well as their individual comments. click here to view the screen grab.
on thursday 25 september 208 representative labruzzo was interviewed on cnn. we missed that interview. however, cnn replayed excerpts of the interview as well as their viewer reaction to it today, which we were fortunate enough to catch. that video is below:
earlier this year, representative labruzzo was practically laughed out of a senate committee hearing on his hb887.
representativ labruzzo also voted against hb715 a bill designed to stop louisiana's compliance with the federal governments satanic real id act.
representative labruzzo voted "yea" to sb672 the massive legislative pay raise fraud bill -- then later recanted his vote.

H. RES. 1460 in the matter of representative charles b. rangel
a couple of days ago it was reported that la-06 congressman don cazayoux had voted to give his fellow congressman charles b. rangel an "ethics pass" by his yea vote to table h. res 1460.
according to house roll call vote #609 of thursday, 18 september 2008, congressman cazayoux was joined in voting yea to table the resolution by his fellow louisiana congressmen william jefferson and charlie melancon.
other interesting yea votes to table h. res. 1460 from the republican side of the aisle were those cast by ron paul, wayne gilchrest, walter jones, james ramstad and dana rohrabacher.
h.res. 1460 was filed on thursday. the text was unavailable online that day and friday because, according to the library of congress, (thomas.loc.gov) it hadnt been sent to them from the government printing office. so it was saturday before we could read the actual text. in the meantime, the only information that they had was the name of the sponsor, :that creepy, sack of ohio rethuglican dung, john boehner.
congressman boehner you might recall is a suspected alcoholic (and serial tanning bed abuser) who on more than one occasion has made incoherent speeches from the house floor in which he famously weeps over the iraq war see boehner weeps & boehner weeps again, a war which he enthusiastically supports. so as far as we're concerned, congressman boehner is just as big a criminal as he would have us believe that congressman rangel is.
just yesterday (sunday 21 september 2008) congressman boehner said on abc's "this week" program that 'treasury's bailout package should help only wall street, not main street.'
anyway, back to congressman cazayuox. how could congressman cazayoux in good conscience and coming from the most corrupt state in the nation, vote to table this resolution? furthermore, what is especially egregious about congressman cazayoux's vote to table h. res.1460 is that he claims that he was a prosecutor in pointe coupee parish -- although apparently not a very good one -- despite his campaign websites' insistence that he never lost a jury trial (notice that they dont tell you just how many jury trials that he actually had) -- hence his desperation to become a career politician.
we dont support "dr." bill cassidy for congress either. cassidy's support of lake charles democrat willie landry mount's sb312 the louisiana mandatory drinking water fluoridation bill, is all the evidence you need to understand that cassidy is a quack and is unfit to hold any office of public trust including his present office of louisiana state senator.
"dr." cassidy's dangerous quackiness, incompetence and corruption should be glaringly apparent especially in light of the actions taken by tennessee state representative joey hensley. representative hensley also a medical doctor and also a republican, spoke out against and stopped efforts to fluoridate tennesse's drinking water.
see also 50 reasons to oppose fluoridation by paul connett, phd. professor of chemistry, st. lawrence university, canton, new york. and the sb312 label in the footer of his post.
according to the louisiana secretary of state elections website, there is an independent running for congress from louisiana's sixth district - louisiana state representative michael jackson. this is who residents of the sixth congressional district should vote for.

Whereas in an article in the September 5, 2008, edition of The New York Times, his attorney confirmed that Representative Rangel's annual congressional Financial Disclosure statements failed to disclose the rental income from his resort villa;
Whereas The New York Times reported on September 6, 2008, that, `Representative Charles B. Rangel paid no interest for more than a decade on a mortgage extended to him to buy a villa at a beachfront resort in the Dominican Republic, according to Mr. Rangel's lawyer and records from the resort. The loan, which was extended to Mr. Rangel in 1988, was originally to be paid back over seven years at a rate of 10.5 percent. But within two years, interest on the loan was waived for Mr. Rangel.';
Whereas clause 5(a)(2)(A) of Rule 25 of the Rules of the House defines a gift as, `* * * a gratuity, favor, discount, entertainment, hospitality, loan, forbearance, or other item having monetary value' and prohibits the acceptance of such gifts except in limited circumstances;

Whereas Roll Call newspaper reported on September 15, 2008, that, `The inconsistent reports are among myriad errors, discrepancies and unexplained entries on Rangel's personal disclosure forms over the past eight years that make it almost impossible to get a clear picture of the Ways and Means chairman's financial dealings.';
Whereas Representative Rangel's failure to report the aforementioned gifts and income on Federal, State and local tax returns is a violation of the tax laws of those jurisdictions;
Whereas disclosure of these improper acts follows an announcement on July 31, 2008, by the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct that it is reviewing unrelated allegations that Representative Rangel has violated House gift rules, financial disclosure regulations and rules barring the use of official resources to solicit funds for private ventures;
Whereas an editorial in The New York Times on September 15, 2008, stated, `Mounting embarrassment for taxpayers and Congress makes it imperative that Representative Charles Rangel step aside as chairman of the Ways and Means Committee while his ethical problems are investigated.';
Whereas clause 1 of rule XXXIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives provides, `A Member, Delegate, Resident Commission, officer, or employee of the House shall conduct himself at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House'; and
