Record meteorite hit Norway
wow imagine this - tuesday evening around 7:05 pm here in louisiana (06 june 2006) which was 2:05am wednesday morning there a metorite (the largest known to hit norway) struck a mountain in norway with the equivalent of one hiroshima sized atomic bomb.
we've been seeing a lot of meteors in the night sky too. about a year ago we saw one that was green and had a trail. didnt hear no booms though thankfully. this guy in norway saw the flash and it wasnt until seven minutes later that he heard a "bang" that to him sounded like a "solid charge of dynamite" going off about a half a mile away [1k].

a dog's life
we snatched this essay from off rense.com. the original is posted here and there is a comment section if you would like to read what others are saying about this article or leave your own. judging by what others have said not to mention our own reaction in reading it, its probably a good idea not to read this if you are at work or on a public pc :-p greyfriars bobby doesnt really have anything to do with this essay per se the photo and link are for illustration and reference purposes.
When I was a puppy I entertained you with my antics and made you laugh. You called me your child and despite a number of chewed shoes and a couple of murdered throw pillows, I became your best friend. Whenever I was "bad," you'd shake your finger at me and ask "How could you?" - but then you'd relent and roll me over for a bellyrub.
My housetraining took a little longer than expected, because you were terribly busy, but we worked on that together. I remember those nights of nuzzling you in bed, listening to your confidences and secret dreams, and I believed that life could not be any more perfect. We went for long walks and runs in the park, car rides, stops for ice cream (I only got the cone because "ice cream is bad for dogs," you said), and I took long naps in the sun waiting for you to come home at the end of the day.
Gradually, you began spending more time at work and on your career, and more time searching for a human mate. I waited for you patiently, comforted you through heartbreaks and disappointments, never chided you about bad decisions, and romped with glee at your homecomings, and when you fell in love.
She, now your wife, is not a "dog person" - still I welcomed her into our home, tried to show her affection, and obeyed her. I was happy because you were happy. Then the human babies came along and I shared your excitement. I was fascinated by their pinkness, how they smelled, and I wanted to mother them, too. Only she and you worried that I might hurt them, and I spent most of my time banished to another room, or to a dog crate. Oh, how I wanted to love them, but I became a "prisoner of love."
As they began to grow, I became their friend. They clung to my fur and pulled themselves up on wobbly legs, poked fingers in my eyes, investigated my ears and gave me kisses on my nose. I loved everything about them, especially their touch - because your touch was now so infrequent - and I would have defended them with my life if need be.
I would sneak into their beds and listen to their worries and secret dreams. Together we waited for the sound of your car in the driveway. There had been a time, when others asked you if you had a dog, that you produced a photo of me from your wallet and told them stories about me. These past few years, you just answered "yes" and changed the subject. I had gone from being your dog to "just a dog," and you resented every expenditure on my behalf.
Now you have a new career opportunity in another city and you and they will be moving to an apartment that does not allow pets. You've made the right decision for your "family," but there was a time when I was your only family.
I was excited about the car ride until we arrived at the animal shelter. It smelled of dogs and cats, of fear, of hopelessness. You filled out the paperwork and said "I know you will find a good home for her." They shrugged and gave you a pained look. They understand the realities facing a middle-aged dog or cat, even one with "papers."
You had to pry your son's fingers loose from my collar as he screamed "No, Daddy! Please don't let them take my dog!" And I worried for him and what lessons you had just taught him about friendship and loyalty, about love and responsibility, and about respect for all life. You gave me a goodbye pat on the head, avoided my eyes, and politely refused to take my collar and leash with you. You had a deadline to meet and now I have one, too.
After you left, the two nice ladies said you probably knew about your upcoming move months ago and made no attempt to find me another good home. They shook their heads and asked "How could you?"
They are as attentive to us here in the shelter as their busy schedules allow. They feed us, of course, but I lost my appetite days ago. At first, whenever anyone passed my pen, I rushed to the front, hoping it was you - that you had changed your mind - that this was all a bad dream...or I hoped it would at least be someone who cared, anyone who might save me. When I realized I could not compete with the frolicking for attention of happy puppies, oblivious to their own fate, I retreated to a far corner and waited.
I heard her footsteps as she came for me at the end of the day and I padded along the aisle after her to a separate room. A blissfully quiet room. She placed me on the table, rubbed my ears and told me not to worry. My heart pounded in anticipation of what was to come, but there was also a sense of relief. The prisoner of love had run out of days. As is my nature, I was more concerned about her. The burden which she bears weighs heavily on her and I know that, the same way I knew your every mood.
She gently placed a tourniquet around my foreleg as a tear ran down her cheek. I licked her hand in the same way I used to comfort you so many years ago. She expertly slid the hypodermic needle into my vein. As I felt the sting and the cool liquid coursing through my body, I lay down sleepily, looked into her kind eyes and murmured "How could you?"
Perhaps because she understood my dogspeak, she said "I'm so sorry." She hugged me and hurriedly explained it was her job to make sure I went to a better place, where I wouldn't be ignored or abused or abandoned, or have to fend for myself - a place of love and light so very different from this earthly place. With my last bit of energy, I tried to convey to her with a thump of my tail that my "How could you?" was not meant for her. It was you, My Beloved Master, I was thinking of. I will think of you and wait for you forever.
May everyone in your life continue to show you so much loyalty.

hb642 reducing orleans assessors clears house committee
.mp3 is here
the house ways and means committee met monday to consider hb642 (reducing orleans assessors from 7 to 1). the meeting started at 9:30 am but we didnt get to tune in until after 11 am. we were busy listening to moon griffon and must say we were impressed with his monday program as well as tuesdays. moon broke the story about senator mcpherson's partnership in a company called "rapides ethanol partners" apparantly from his reading a blog called cenla antics. cenla antics is an alexandria area oriented blog whos banner proclaims:
"Politics: Louisiana Style -- An anonymous venue of discussion on politics in Central Louisiana"yeah, so you get the picture what this blog's about? lol
anyway back to the committee meeting and the assessors. if you follow these things you will remember that last time this came up in the second extra special session from 06 february 2006 this came up in the ways and means committee as hb50 and was killed by a vote of 8-6. the two votes that killed the legislation were cast by rep alex heaton and rep jeff arnold. arnold's brother is an orleans assessor and heaton's dad is an orleans assessor! their was an outrage after c.b. forgotston posted about it on his blog.
monday when we joined the committee meeting in progress rep taylor townsend was speaking. unfortunately we didnt get to record that (our .mp3 opens from rep cedric richmond's remarks)and he went on about how the governor called him by fone over the weekend while he was bringing his son home from "the camp." that the purpose of the governor's call was to find out where he stood on the issue and that the governor didnt offer him anything despite media reports she was using the capital outlay bill over the leges heads to support hb642.
representative thompson went on and on about how alex heaton and jeff arnold were honorable and got a raw deal when people (rightfully so too) questioned their ethics in that hb50 vote back in february. right after the governor testified another lege went on about how "both of these men (arnold and heaton) are very fine people and i was upset for them as the media and other outlets attacked them for their supposedly unethical conduct and i just thought that was wrong and iam here to tell you that they are two of the finest men ive dealt with in this whole process." they actually believe this crap? or worse expect us to? oh yeah we didnt get this part on .mp3 either but rep heaton's dad said that he was proud of his son and that he (heaton) would resign if he ever thought that his son did something wrong. whatever.
if any of that crap was true then why didnt rep's heaton and arnold vote this time? they both left the room just prior to the vote. this is despite rep heaton during his remarks said that he had an heh heh heh ethics board opinion issued on 11 may 2006 (which we havent been able to locate on ethics website yet either resulting in this post being 2 days late) that he claims exonerated him for that first vote of his. next.

Pineville City Court clerk resigns
PINEVILLE - Les Prestridge, chief clerk of the Pineville City Court, resigned effective today.
City Judge Phillip Terrell said, "This morning Col. Prestridge sent a letter of resignation. As far as I am concerned, he no longer works here."
Prestridge had been under investigation of allegations of sexual harrassment of the women in his office for the past several weeks.

very interesting story over in todays northside journal. according to them, judge phillip terrell finished his "investigation" of his pville city court clerk les prestridge back at 23 april 2006 its now forty-five days later and still no action. judge terrell must not know what to do lol and is trying to let it blow over. we dont think thats gonna work though because the northside journal reports from, public records and sources within, pineville city court "female employees are reluctant to be left alone with prestridge." yeah we bet since statements the northside journal seen say "Prestridge “became drunk” and “began kissing them and..." we will let you read the rest of that over there.what an act of megolomania on the part of prestridge's lawyer mike glass eh? who went too far when he:
contacted the offices of the Northside Journal yesterday afternoon and claimed that the investigation conducted by the City of Pineville was improper. Although Glass acknowledged that the information obtained by the Northside Journal was public information, he asserted that any disclosure of that public information would be actionable. When asked if his phone call was intended to be a threat of a lawsuit, Glass responded, "...not threatening, guaranteeing."who is this guy to say that public record information cannot be published?
click the link to read the rest (1 pg.pdf file) from the northside journal. a printed version of the northside journal is available around pineville.
babs zimmerman on kalb.com is reporting "Pineville City Clerk's Status To Be Decided Next Week" in this story kalb leaves out the part about who the law firm is that is doing the "investigation" however commentors over on cenla antics blog reveal that the law firm is the provosty law firm and the daughters name is leslie. the only leslie listed on the provosty law firm website is leslie pederson.

KALB - NewsChannel 5 Online

Pineville City Court Judge Phillip Terrell says he will have a decision Tuesday on the future employment of his long-time clerk of court.
Les Prestridge has been on administrative leave with pay for several weeks in the wake of complaints that he made sexual advances toward women in the court house.
Terrell acknowledged he is being guided by a law firm for which Prestridge's daughter works.
But, the judge said she is not a partner in the firm and has not had any connection with the case.
When Newschannel Five first reported on this story a couple of weeks ago, Terrell said something definitely will be done about the complaints, but he has not specified what that might be.
There are legal and medical issues involved, he said at the time.

another reason the governor should veto hb685
**updated** 2:36 pm cdt friday 09 june 2006
House Bill 685 has won approval from the legislature and would effectively require that gasoline containing ethanol be sold in the state. Parties from both sides of the argument are weighing in on the debate as the bill sits on the Governors desk for her approval.
One local legislator has been taking heat from a Louisiana talk radio host Moon Griffon for his possible business interest in the ethanol issue. In a phone interview Friday morning Senator McPherson says he has no connection with the Louisiana ethanol industry and will not financially benefit from House Bill 685. McPherson goes on to explain in the mid-1980’s he formed a partnership to invest in ethanol plants in New Mexico... click here to read more.

all quiet on devil day?
in case you didnt know we love reading the last trumpet newsletter and here is some excerpts from this months issue:
Sir Winston Churchill, who was an Illuminist, Druid, Freemason, and a member of the League of Just Men, once said the following words: “Most people, sometime in their lives, stumble across the truth. Most jump up, brush themselves off and hurry about their business as if nothing had happened.” While Churchill was referring to the number one problem in the world today - apathy toward truth, he also alluded to the fact that truth is surrounded by so much darkness that people stumble over it and even hate it because it got in their way. How true it is that people who walk in darkness will stumble over truth, but people who walk in the light will not stumble over anything.
The Illuminists depend upon apathy toward truth by the masses of people, because it allows them to continue with great measures of success as they go about to enslave the people of the world in a global dictatorship of an antichrist and totalitarian one-world government.
On March 19th, 2006, the Newhouse News Service featured a story entitled “The Next Big Thing Comes in a Small Package. The article was about micro-chips inserted under the skin so humans could interface and interact with the computers and computer-run devices of the world. Strangely enough, the article also said the following ominous words: “Radio ID tech is expected to become omnipresent in our lives.” (16) Here let it be noted that omnipresence is an attribute that belongs only to God Almighty! Is the satanic beast trying to use electronic technology to assume an attribute of God?
Vice President Dick Cheney recently accomplished one of his greatest achievements: he re-started the cold war by insulting Russia in a scathing verbal attack. Cheney slammed Russia with hard criticism regarding the country’s economic policies and human rights. Russia’s response was, “The cold war has re-started; only now the lines have shifted.” (18) The official response of the White House was a full backing and endorsement of the harsh words of Dick Cheney. (19)
On May 6th, 2006, AFP News Service published a story entitled “Bush Says Fight Against Terror is World War III.” (20) The President clearly stated that we are now in World War III, at least according to his thinking. Quite obviously, Mr. Bush spilled the beans about the Illuminati blueprint that World War III would begin with the so-called war on terror involving the Middle East. We must remember the words of President Bush Junior when just after the invasion and occupation of Iraq, he proudly declared, “I am a war President!” George the Conqueror also smiled when he told Larry King that he would like to be a dictator. It is an interesting fact that we have a hereditary King George II who now controls the throne of the ancient land of Babylon.
As the wars and rumors of wars escalate, the people of the United States are experiencing the formation of a police state that has the potential to be far more extreme than the Nazi Gestapo was in Germany. I now have in front of me a copy of the House Report #109-333 – USA Patriot Improvement and Reauthorization Act of 2005. This is cataloged in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and available from them.
Section 3056A of this document reads as follows: “There is hereby created and established a permanent police force, to be known as the United States Secret Service Uniformed Division. Subject to the supervision of the Secretary of Homeland Security, the United States Secret Service Uniformed Division shall perform such duties as the Director, United States Secret Service, may prescribe in connection with the protection of the following…..” The document goes on to say under sub-section b-1, “Under the direction of the Director of the Secret Service, members of the United States Secret Service Uniformed Division are authorized to - - (A) Carry firearms, (B) Make arrests without warrant….. “ (21) All of this is amazing, and they said it couldn’t happen here in America!

setliff v adams important corporate law opinion issued by the 3rd circuit

this is a real crazy ruling, to us at least. we havent seen the original petition or any of the pleadings, all we have to go on is what judge elizabeth a pickett wrote in the 3rd circuit's opinion. elaine setliff is a local real estate broker and was hired as an agent by erma adams inc back in 1998. somewhere along the way someone got the bright idea to make ms setliff a shareholder of erma adams inc. they had a board of directors meeting which said that ms setliff would become a stockholder she only had to pay $10,000 for a 16.3 % stake.
resolution passed from the december 1998 erma adams inc board of director meeting minutes:
The motion was made and passed to change the status of officers and stockholders, amended by the three original three [sic] stockholders and owners of this Corporation. The ownership and stock is restructured to allow Elaine Setliff to become a partner in the corporation of Erma Adams, Inc [...] Elaine Setliff will be expected to buy stock in the amount of $10,000 to be paid over a period of 5 to 10 years.ms setliff paid $1,000 towards the purchase of the stock in january 2000 then for some unexplained reason she left erma adams inc the next month. she filed her original suit on 26 april 2002 "seeking a judgment that she be recognized as a shareholder of Erma Adams, Inc" eventually ms adams won a summary judgement. ninth judicial district court judge john c davidson granted ms adams summary judgement: and "...awarded $1,000.00 to Mrs. Setliff as the return of the deposit she made for the purchase of the stock, and otherwise dismissed Mrs. Setliff’s claims with prejudice."
ms setliff appealed that judgement her assignment of error stated that "The trial court judge erred in ruling that Elaine Setliff had no ownership interest in Erma Adams, Inc."
it would seem pretty obvious that she did have some kind of ownership interest since she did pay $1,000 towards stock, she served as its secretary according to the corporate minutes and erma adams inc took out a life insurance policy on ms setliff. if erma adams didnt think that she was a stockholder and not entitled to any shares of stock till the $10,000 was paid in full why not wait until then to take out the life insurance policy? that should have been looked into as well in that had ms setliff died would erma adams have kept the face amount of the insurance despite ms setliffs possibly not having paid in full yet or would ms setliffs survivor mark setliff received the overage? probably not since he signed a paper stating that he had no interest in erma adams inc.
however the third circuit ruled that:
The critical element missing from Mrs. Setliff’s case is any evidence of a plan to allow for the issuance of shares to her before she paid for them. Furthermore, there is no evidence that any stock was ever actually issued to Mrs. Setliff. In fact, the only evidence in the record on this point is an affidavit from C. Michael Adams stating that no stock was ever issued to Mrs. Setliff. While Mrs. Setliff took part in board meetings, she never properly paid for shares, and no shares were ever issued to her.so we guess the moral of the story is to get your actual stock certificate issued and in your name as well as make sure that a payment plan is written down and how your ownership interest will accrue if at all as you pay in your money.. shareholder meetings and resolutions etc arent worth the paper they are written on.
the lord works in mysterious ways and it might be just as well ms setliff lost her appeal as a check of erma adams inc from the secretary of state's website shows that it is not in good standing.

1 down 142 to go
Posted: May 31, 2006, 07:23 PM
On the afternoon of May seventh, State Representative Mickey Frith visited Paragon Casino and Resort in Marksville. While there, sources tell TV-3, Frith was involved in an altercation. Tunica-Biloxi Police arrested Frith; he was later booked into the Avoyelles Parish Jail. Tribal Police Chief Harold Pierite would give no comment or any details about the arrest. However, Avoyelles Parish booking records show Frith was booked on simple battery charges.
Frith says his wife was playing a slot machine next to him. She went to the restroom and left money in the machine. According to Frith, a man came over to the machine and began playing. He says he told the man his wife left money in the machine and the man stated he put money in as well and began to take the money out. Frith says he told the man he would call security to settle the matter. Frith says before security got there, the man continued to take the money out and Frith says he then grabbed the man by the throat.
Frith says quote "He was stealing my wife's money and I firmly believe no one is going to steal from me."
Frith says he regrets what happened but he did what he had to do. Frith says tribal police told him they had to follow procedure and take him in. He says he understood and went freely.
Frith represents District 47, that includes parts of Vermilion and Cameron parishes. He tells TV-3, the matter is nothing major and he has revisited the casino. We spoke with the Avoyelles Parish District Attorney's Office and they say no court date has been set. EXTERNAL LINK
another pro-tax fake republican sen mike michot sb245
La. State Senator Michael "Mike" Michot (R) Lafayette
here we go again with yet another bait and switch fake republican. as we have previously posted about senator julie quinn - republicans are supposed to stand for lower taxes and less government. why then is republican la state senator mike michot introducing SB245 which will "Authorize certain parishes to increase their sales tax by one percent.???"
what we would like to know is where is la republican party chairman roger villere at? why is he allowing louisiana's republican party to be hijacked by these bunch of fake republicans whose legislative filings as well as their votes are based on anything but the republican party platform and ideals?
a few months ago chairman villere issued a press release calling on governor blanco to resign if she wouldnt set orleans parish elections in a timely manner - well in that same spirit we call on roger villere to resign as louisiana republican party chairman and step aside in favor of someone who will actually control the republican party of louisiana and ensure only those who truly respect and espouse its platform are given party backing and in favor of someone who will stand up and say this and that bill is wrong and so is the legislator filing and/or voting for same.
