UPDATED HB 639 senate health and welfare committee kills bill to repeal mandatory motorcycle helmets

the house committee on transportation, highways, and public works without objection just approved HB 639 a bill authored by rep. james morris that repeals the requirement to wear a helmet for certain motorcycle riders and operators.
UPDATE: on 02 june 2009, HB 639 passed the state house 64 - 33 and is now assigned to the senate committee on health and welfare.
HB 639 now goes to the full house for debate.
UPDATE: ruston rethug hollis downs who was absent for HB 639 just announced to the committee that had he been present that he would have spoken against the bill and voted against it.
