Just to let you know, and hopefully avoid needless expense to the state in legal fees, a federal appellate court recently held that individuals do have a 2nd Amendment right to bear arms. Such right is also found in the Louisiana Constitution. Therefore, your bill HB-869 is unconstitutional. I realize that the introduction of such bill was done as a liberal political ploy to get you more liberal votes, but you have totally underestimated gun owners. I personally own several assault rifles, and whether your bill passes or not, I will fight to the death to continue owning them. Such is what our country was founded upon, and allows us to control oppressive governments, such as you envision. Your time, and our public funds, would be better spent controlling the criminals who use such weapons to commit crimes..
