www.thewashingtonnote.comsteve clemons is a senior fellow and director at the new america foundation and blogger. mr. clemons' blog is called "the washington note." thanks to mr. clemons eagle eye today, he alerts us to the latest on the i. lewis "scooter" libby case. it seems that potential republican presidential candidate fred thompson "has graciously offered to host another fundraiser for the libby legal defense trust." mr. clemons writes:
Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald has noted that indicted former Cheney chief-of-staff Scooter Libby has shown no remorse for his role in obstructing the investigation of the leak of Valerie Plame Wilson's covert responsibilities for the CIA and has asked for a 30 to 37 month jail sentence for Libby.

We also ought not to forget former Senator and potential presidential candidate Fred Thompson's significant enthusiasm for Scooter Libby's legal defense and ask him whether Libby-like obstruction of justice would be tolerated in his potential administration.
libby revealed the name of one of america's intelligence operatives for no other reason than for the bush administrations lust for revenge against her husband. what the general public needs to understand is that when ms. plame was revealed to be a cia agent -- then so was the identities of all of her overseas contacts (called assets) people in sensitive positions and sympathetic to america and our objectives and who trusted america to keep their identies secret. they were more than likely killed. its also highly probable that their families were also rounded up and killed.
