Elmer Carl Langston 1927 - 2010
Funeral Services for Elmer Carl Langston will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2010 in the chapel of John Kramer & Son with Rev. Sammy Morrow officiating.
Interment will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens, Woodworth.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010 and from 8:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at John Kramer & Son.
Elmer Carl Langston, 83, of Pollock, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 24, 2010.
He was born October 21, 1927 in Woodworth to the Union of Charles E. and Sophronia Langston.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Earl Langston, Eugene Langston, Ennis Langston and sisters, Bessie Langston, Inez Weage and Mary Gassiott.
Elmer Langston is survived by his wife of 57 years, Merle Langston; daughter, Suzanne Langston of Shreveport; his son, Ray Anthony and wife, Rachel of Wynne, Arkansas; grandson, Jason Anthony and wife, Jessica of Pollock; one great-granddaughter, Emma; sister, Dorothy Marshall and husband, Harlan of Woodworth and brother, Ewell Langston and wife, Emma Lou of Woodworth and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Elmer was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Pollock, where he was an Adult Men's Sunday school teacher and a R.A. leader for many years.
He was a Master Mason of Forest Hill Lodge #254.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He also served as Vice President of the Louisiana Mayhaw Association for several years and founded the Springhill Development Company and was a former co-owner of the Springhill Jelly Company.
He owned and operated Little Eden Vineyard in Pollock, a pulp wood hauler for many years and a retired sheet Metal Worker Local #361.
Pallbearers will be: John Langston, Charles Langston, Cecil Gassiott, Lloyd Langston, Bobby Talbert and Benny Gunter.
The family request memorials be sent to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 171 Pleasant Hill Church Rd., Pollock, LA 71467.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Adult Men's Sunday school class.
