Al Copeland to be laid to rest today
08:16 AM CDT on Monday, March 31, 2008
Final goodbyes will be said Monday to legendary New Orleans restaurateur Al Copeland.
Copeland died Easter Sunday in Germany where he was seeking treatment for a rare form of cancer. He was 64-years-old.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church on St. Charles Avenue, with a mass following at 2 p.m.
After the mass, there will be a funeral procession to Metairie Cemetery on Pontchartrain Boulevard where Copeland will be laid to rest.
At least a dozen of Copeland’s race cars, motorcycles and his famed speed boat will be displayed on the lawn – just some of the toys that epitomize his flamboyant lifestyle.
