nutty demo dud charlie melancon to challenge david vitter

charlie melancon has been nothing but a bush boot-licker. his tenure in congress, so far, has shown that he will go along with any filthy thing to do his part in destroying america. now the democrats are rewarding him for it all by backing him for a senatorial run.

blogger to candidates: address louisiana judicial corruption & stop insulting our intelligence

By Law and Grace, Inc.:

RE: David Vitter ad slammed as racist by advocates for immigrants
By: Jonathan Tilove
Times-Picayune @ nola.com
If David Vitter's campaign ads would more closely address and resemble the issues facing Louisiana, he would fare a whole lot better!

We have SO MANY Louisiana problems which need addressing, Vitter could help undecided voters --including me, to better ascertain what he intends to do about them!

Whether or not David Vitter dislikes people based upon the color of their skin, his pattern of operation demonstrates that he favors the ELITE class of people --to the unfair and unjust disadvantage of others (probably including immigrants, and not all Blacks --as I feel sure he has his 'tokens').

His pattern of conduct indicates that he thinks he has superior thinking skills to his audience by showing TV ads that talk about what Charle Melancon did or did not do for or with President Obama.

I don't give a flip about hearing Vitter's SAME STUPID OKEY DOKEY talk.

I PREFER to know which of the ISSUES & CONDITIONS affecting every day / non-elite people Vitter intends to address!

I have a grasp on what he does to make things better for the rich and powerful, but they are not the only residents of Louisiana --and many of them are getting old, and some are or will be indicted.

It is aggravating to hear Vitter on the television, Melancon, and others --but especially Vitter because he does it ALL THE TIME, continuing to talk about what is least significant in these crucial economic times!

I could have better respect for Vitter if he had better respect for his listening audience and talked about the issues of Louisiana which desperately need answers since not everyone is interested in pleasuring him or her self, or going hunting, and other gratifying things while being worried about economic conditions.

I AM FAIRLY CERTAIN that I never hear Vitter say anything those things because he does not intend to do anything.

I don't know if I want to vote for Melancon, but the jejune finger pointing at Melancon rather than concrete discussion of the issues wastes my time!

I am trying to give Vitter the benefit of the doubt since I against any politician who engineers judicial benches to be filled with inept and corrupt State as well as Federal judges; and who underhandedly influences appointments of U.S. attorneys!!!

I am further against politicians who pleasure themselves with travel and life's finest while their fellow-citizens endure constant ravages of crime and corruption, with no end in sight; and while their cronies receive slaps on their wrists when their acts of corruption can no longer be whitewashed.

Those are some of the issues for which Louisiana has needed answers for a very long time!

I reiterate my assertion that nearly every social problem in Louisiana can be linked to when controversies require judicial remedies and no other choice except face judges --whom, being friends and giving the best gifts or doing favors for judges ensures good outcomes.

And although there are many intelligent attorneys here, it does not require intelligence nor knowledge of the law, nor even submitting lawful grounds to become granted favorable rulings by certain judges, say for example, Ivan Lemelle and Kurt Engelhardt.

Now, since there seems to be changes in the way comments become posted here at nola.com (particularly for Vitter and his worshipers) here is what I'm posting throughout the Internet:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now is a good time for election candidates to be talking about solutions for the LOUISIANA CORRUPTION TITANIC rather than each other.

What REALLY is wrong with Louisiana is inept and / or corrupt judicial and U.S. Attorney in positions, that were mainly orchestrated by political placement power!

The justices’ abuses are EASILY PROVABLE by looking at Louisiana real estate / mortgage illegalities, and facilitating court judges.

Thankfully, FORECLOSURE FRAUD has center stage in the national media.

The light will shine brighter in this judicial corruption that has been hiding in plain sight here in Louisiana –and directly linked to Louisiana’ blighted communities \ commercial and residential frauds \ insultingly blatant Bankruptcy lawlessness \ illegal evictions \ unjust homelessness \ disintegrated households \ poverty \ violence \ joblessness \ substance abuse, etc. (Of course, I have approached lawmakers –to no avail– with suggestions, only to incur severe reprisals. And, an option does not exist for me to retreat from doing what I believe is right, nor moving away from loved ones.

Presently –from Judge Thomas Porteous’ impeachment trial, testimonies about the “Louisiana Way” of giving gifts (bribes) and doing ‘favors’ for judges– members of Congress have more than ample information which makes it silly to impeach Porteous and disregard Louisiana in-your-face lawlessness.

Foreclosure fraud has now been explained so clearly, even a child can understand that some people have indeed been illegally tossed from their homes, it will not be hard to detect the unlawful foreclosures that occurred here –especially the illegal foreclosure that unjustly caused people to be Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita exiled from their homes (but their neighbors erroneously blame them for blight).

In fact, a mere GLANCE at Louisiana fraudulent property transactions surrounding Freddie Mac, Wells Fargo, and certain foreclosure mills here –supplies additional reasons for Capitol Hill to probe Louisiana.

**The current congress members who represent Louisiana have done zilch about decades of PRIMA FACIE foreclosure and mortgage fraud!

To reiterate: David Vitter, Charlie Melancon, and other candidates: You have the opportunity to show worthiness of people’s votes by not insulting our intelligence with finger-pointing at each other, but by talking about your plans for addressing the LOUISIANA CORRUPTION TITANIC; it seems headed underwater with all of us on board.

pineville, la. city government continues to thumb its nose at louisiana law

heres the latest on the city of pineville, louisiana public records request for the city of pineville chief of staff rich dupree's emails...

for those of you interested and following the ongoing saga of pineville's scandalous utter contempt for and disregard of louisiana law -- you probably remember our post from 23 july 2007 in which we documented mr. lynton hester's request to view mr. rich dupree's (already separated) emails, which according to pineville's attorney and federal court judge wannabe: jimmy "the wizard" faircloth in a letter to local attorney gregory aymond just seventeen days ago (10 july 2007) to inform mr. aymond that "the city of pineville has completed its review of the e-mails at issue and divided them into categories in accord with judge swent's ruling and our jointly submitted judgment." see mr. faircloth's actual letter here.

well, earlier this evening mr. hester said that he had received no response whatsoever from city of pineville, public records custodian ellen melancon, despite ms. melancon being statutorily bound to contact mr. hester by today. mr. hester said that according to the united states postal service certified mail return card, a mr. wayne dauzat signed for receipt of his public records request on tuesday 24 july 2007. mr hester told wst... that around 3:45 pm today he telephoned ms. melancon's office and was told that she wasnt in but would return his call. additionally, mr. hester obtained ms. melancon's email address and emailed her. he received no response to his telephone call or email.

louisiana law at RS 44:32 D requires that:

In any case in which a record is requested and a question is raised by the custodian of the record as to whether it is a public record, such custodian shall within three days, exclusive of Saturdays, Sundays, and legal public holidays, of the receipt of the request, in writing for such record, notify in writing the person making such request of his determination and the reasons therefor. Such written notification shall contain a reference to the basis under law which the custodian has determined exempts a record, or any part thereof, from inspection, copying, or reproduction.
louisiana's attorney general charles foti, on his website, has a section reserved just for public records laws see "publications: public records laws". ag foti, in plain easy to understand terminology explains the laws governing citizens public records requests and the public body's duty in fulfilling these requests. one can only deduce that city of pineville, louisiana governmental officers together with its lawyers consider themselves to be above the law.

city of pineville and their attorneys werent totally idle today. they did find the time to prepare and file the following motion. this motion attempts to quash gregory aymonds appeal of ninth judicial court judge f. rae swent's 24 may 2007 judgement.

first of all this judgment was prepared by mr. faircloth and he is the one that labeled it a "partial judgement". however, a clear reading of that judgment shows that it was final except for the issue that if mr. aymond wants to see those emails that require lawyer comment then they would come back into court.

under what must be mr. faircloth's convoluted logic, if mr. aymond never wanted to come back into court to see those emails this judgment would never be final and therefore could never be appealed! additionally, the code of civil procedure la ccp article 1911 provides "an appeal may be taken from a final judgment under article 1915 (a) without the judgment being so designated" so it doesnt matter what mr. faircloth labels his judgment. additionally, you see from mr. faircloths motion that he cites three third circuit court of appeal cases to support his position: smit land & marine, inc. v whc, inc. [11 page .pdf] and fix v rogan [6 page .pdf] and luther v turner. [6 page .pdf] all three of these cases deal with motions for partial summary judgments and not with a case such as city of pineville versus gregory aymond which actually had a trial on the merits. its clear that mr. faircloth is just pulling another scam.

one other thing that the local attorneys might find interesting enough to keep in mind if they find themselves on opposite sides of mr. faircloth, is that under uniform rules of district courts, rule 9.9(a) requires a memoranda of fact and law to be filed and served with legal motions. there was no memoranda of fact and law. the local lawyers (judges too) might also find it interesting that mr. faircloth doesnt seem to take the court rules very seriously either. so next time you dont feel like following the court rules, please feel free to cite this motion.

anyway, all judge swent has to do is simply designate this now to be a final judgment and allow mr. aymond's appeal to go forward. this motion of mr. faircloth's is simply a delay tactic that will do nothing but cost the citizens of pineville more legal fees and court costs in the attempt to shield mr. dupree's emails. besides, even should judge swent agree with mr.faircloth that would mean that mr. aymond could seek an supervisory writ instead of an appeal.

what is clear is that pineville does not have any intentions of complying with the law. it is also clear that the local news media needs to step in and report this and be proactive for citizens rights such as the advocate did.

reportedly, next week pineville mayor fields is going to get sworn in as the president of the louisiana municipal association. we wonder if mayor fields is going to teach the municipal association on how to avoid complying with the states laws at least as they apply to public records?

when this is all over who will submit a public records request and find out how much the city of pineville has squandered in legal fees? will it be you? and will pineville bother to comply?

    stay tuned...

la gop chairman roger villere is a hypocrite and a fraud

as everyone knows, yesterday the u.s. house of representatives voted 240 - 179 to "disapprove" of congressman joe wilson's "you lie" outburst at president obama during the president's 09 september 2009 address on health care to the joint session of congress.

not long after the vote, louisiana gop chairman roger villere issued a statement which was picked up and heavily promoted by the dead pelican. ~ link or screen grab, in which villere takes congressman charlie melancon (d) to task for voting for the rebuke.

congressman melancon is also an announced candidate in next years senatorial election against david vitter.

however, a closer look at house roll call vote #699 reveals that congressman melancon was not the only representative from louisiana who voted for the rebuke. the other vote was by flaky nola rino anh cao -- yet there is no word or mention of this by villere.

this failure on villere's part to rebuke louisiana rino's for their behavior is part and parcel of villere's incompetent (read criminal) management of the louisiana republican party.

when are louisiana republicans ever going to get a clue and clean up and run off the criminals like villere who himself is a rino who are running their party into the ground? why cant they see that villere and company are working a plan to destroy the la gop?

why wont louisiana republicans demand honest, respectable leaders as well as political candidates and elected officials?

    shame on louisiana

    www.thedeadpelican.com

tuesday, 07 november 2006: while the rest of the country was busy pitching out republicans left and right louisiana's dimwitted electorate was busy overwhelmingly returning to office our five republican criminals and one democrat (melancon) criminal.

look at how much money has come into louisiana since katrina and rita. we owed it to the rest of the country to turn out our crooks and thugs too and yet once again louisiana fails miserably. thankfully conscientious citizens in places like missouri, montana, virginia, pennsylvania and other places did their homework and their part and tossed out their criminals.

yeah yeah we know we keep harping on this but they are destroying the constitution and no one wants to understand; no one cares. our forefathers fought a war and many of them suffered and died to get rid of the very system that these criminals are once again foisting upon us.

with the exception of william jefferson louisiana's criminal congressional delegation voted for the usa patriot act, the military commissions act of 2006, h.r.4844 the federal elections integrity act of 2006 jefferson and melancon voted against this one. h.r.5122 the john warner national defense authorization act of 2007 all of louisiana's congressmen voted for this.

concerning the military commissions act of 2006 did you know that:
Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) voted for the bill after telling reporters earlier that he would oppose it because it is "patently unconstitutional on its face." He cited its denial of the habeas corpus right to military detainees. washington post
do you realize that the oath of office one takes upon becoming a constitutional officer isnt just some ceremonial words that the president and congressmen and senators recite? oh no no its a federal law 5 USC § 3331 to be exact. arlen specter knew and so did the rest of louisiana's criminal congressional delegation, that the military commissions act of 2006 was unconstitutional then went ahead and voted for it anyway. this was a violation of not only their sworn and solemn oath but they knowingly and willingly violated federal law!

its shocking that piyush "bobby" jindal could win reelection by an astounding 88% of votes cast while anyone with two functioning brain cells and an ounce of discernment can see right through this fast talking bull-shit artist. yes hes a con artist extraordinaire. c'mon people would you buy a car or an insurance policy from this guy? not even to mention the fact that ol piyush just like our senator david vitter are rhodes scholars. so was bill clinton. rhodes scholars are another secret society bent on destroying america's sovereignty to usher in a one world government/new world order.

look at the turn out, turn coat rodney alexander received. geeze, this guy is a known backstabber and liar not to mention he covered up for a pedophile and lied about it. sixty percent of the people in alexander's district agree with this behavior and think that its just a-ok.

louisiana is never gonna be any better because the citizens here in louisiana dont want to be any better. louisianians are lazy and stupid and we revel in our laziness and stupidity except when it comes to a party then we go all out. so go on back to your boudin balls, your gumbos, go back to your football games, and your cochon de lait's. the saints will come marching in someday only you won't be one of them.

no louisiana congressional criminals cosponsoring rep louie gohmert's 'tax holiday' bill

on 09 december 2008, texas republican, louie gohmert, introduced his H.R. 7309. a bill "to amend the internal revenue code of 1986 to suspend employment and income taxes for the first two months of 2009, and for other purposes."

click here to download five page .pdf [89 kb]

according to the library of congress, as of 1:09 p.m. cst, monday 15 december 2008, rep. gohmert's bill has thirty-seven co-sponsors:

surprisingly -- or not -- not one louisiana congressman has signed on to co-sponsor rep. gohmert's bill.

rep.'s mccrery, cazayoux and jefferson, perhaps can be excused since they are all on their way out of the congress.

however, there is no excuse for republican rep.'s rodney alexander and charles boustany (who both voted for the wall street bailout) for not co-sponsoring this bill. nor is there any excuse for democratic rep. charlie melancon's (another rat who voted for the wall street bailout) not co-sponsoring this bill either. the other republican -- rep. steve scalise, his name is also inexplicably absent.

call rodney alexander [contact], charles boustany [contact]. charlie melancon [contact]. and steve scalise [contact] and ask them to co-sponsor H.R. 7309 and to do everything within their power to pass this bill.

Support HB715 Which Directs the Department of Public Safety and Corrections NOT TO IMPLEMENT the Federal REAL ID Act of 2005

    ====
brian mcnabb of the louisiana action council emails to inform us that:

During the past couple of months we have continued to keep you apprised on an extremely important piece of legislation that will effect all of us in Louisiana - Rep. Brett Geymann's HB 715.

I am pleased to report that, on Tuesday morning, the House Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public Works voted without objection to send HB 715 to the House floor for a vote.

If passed on the floor, HB 715 would reject the Real ID Act which Congress passed in 2005.

The Real ID Act of 2005 requires that states comply with a federal government mandate to create a national identification card. This unfunded federal mandate is not only a direct threat to our privacy and civil liberties but it is also a blatant disregard of our 10th Amendment rights!

It is a great sign and a good initial step that HB 715 passed through the Transportation Committee with unanimous support. However, the battle has just begun. I urge all of you to take a moment to call your legislators and ask them to vote in favor of Rep. Geymann's bill - House Bill 715!

some additional information on real id from www.nonationalid.com

All U.S. citizens to receive National ID card by 2008

The Real ID Act, passed by Congress and signed by President Bush on May 11, 2005, mandates that all U.S. citizens will receive a National ID card by May of 2008.

Without this National ID, you won't...

    * Drive your car
    * Board a plane, train, or bus
    * Enter any federal building
    * Open a bank account
    * Hold a job

If you can’t hold a job or have a bank account, how much buying and selling will you be able to do?

Is the coming National ID the prophesied "mark of the beast"?

There is a prophecy in the Bible that foretells a time when every person will be required to have a mark or a number, without which he or she will not be able to participate in the economy.

The prophecy is 2,000 years old, but it has been impossible for it to come to pass until now. With the invention of the computer and the Internet, this prophecy of buying and selling, using a number, can now be implemented at any time. Has the time for the fulfillment of this prophecy arrived?

katrina mary's letter to the editor

senator katrina mary landrieu's recent letter to the editor, in which she foolishly proclaims her pride in her senatorial voting record, would be laughable and dismissive if the stakes werent so high. katrina mary wrote in to respond to a recent alexandria daily town talk "your mail" from a mr. robert b. ferguson. we didnt read mr. ferguson's letter that katrina mary is responding to, but we didnt have to because anyone who follows these things already knows that mr. ferguson is one of those right wing, brainwashed nut jobs, who loves to confirm and reaffirm his useful idiotness by having a new letter about something he knows nothing about printed in the your mail about every other day.

whats so disturbing about right wing nutters such as mr. ferguson, is that they love to seize upon something such as immigration reform to raise hell over, yet they totally miss the boat when it comes to far more important legislation. we dont know for sure but we are willing to bet that mr. ferguson and others of his ilk also claim to be committed christians. they are liars.

christians say they believe in a coming antichrist figure, yet when laws are enacted such as the usa patriot act, the military commissions act, the real i.d. act and the john warner national defense act just to name a few, the very laws that an antichrist ruler would need in place, they are remarkably silent. in fact all if not most cheer on these laws.

some christians like to write all this off because they believe in this fairy tale called "the rapture." they like to say, "so what? we won't be here to see it anyway cos we're gonna be raptured right before it all comes down." the rapture, they believe, is when they will be physically removed from the earth just prior to the unveiling of the antichrist and the period of the great tribulation. what they fail to understand is that the rapture is described as in the twinkling of an eye they will go to be with the lord - which is exactly what the bible says happens when we die! so for all we know this rapture could be when all the christians are rounded up and machine gunned or guillotined to death. wouldnt that be the supreme irony? especially when you look over in hebrews chapter nine at verse twenty-seven where it says: "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:"

even if they are correct in their belief in the rapture and that christians will be physically removed from the earth there will be so few actually taken that no one will even miss them. so the rapture could have already happened.

its not just katrina mary landrieu that has voted for this antichristic garbage. its also david "diaper doo doo" vitter; turn-coat ratney salamander rodney alexander, richard hugh baker, jim mccrery; charles boustany; charlie melancon and piyush "bobby" jindal. every last one of these traitors should be thrown out of office, yet you never see or hear of any "christians" condemning any of them. this is more evidence that there is actually so few real christians around that should the rapture be true then they wont even be missed.

louisianians like the rest of the americans have been living a lie since at least 1963, if not for years prior to that. we've allowed a trojan horse in our midst and when the trap is sprung, which it will be soon, the look on people's faces like mr. ferguson and the rest of the fake christians and nutty evangelicals who are for the most part responsible for america's fall will closely mirror the look on the faces of the people of legendary troy that fabled dark night millennia ago when they were dragged from their beds and put to the sword.

anyone that claims to be a christian or even an american who loves freedom and supports our constitution and who supports mary landrieu, david vitter, rodney alexander, richard hugh baker, jim mccrery, charles boustany and charlie melancon is a liar and the truth isnt in them.

    landrieu lies:
    Landrieu proud of voting record

I write in response to Robert B. Ferguson's July 19 letter "Landrieu getting the message?" In Mr. Ferguson's letter, he noted my opposition to the immigration reform legislation that the Senate recently considered. After noting my opposition to the bill, Mr. Ferguson concluded that being "in lock step" with the Democratic Party leadership is not a winner with Louisiana voters. I agree.

Since arriving in the Senate, I have always been proud of my independent voting record on issues that matter to our state. Contrary to Mr. Ferguson's assertion, I don't vote "in lock step" with either political party. I vote in a way that reflects the needs and concerns of Louisiana families and businesses. Just within the last three months, I voted to preserve Second Amendment rights, to provide estate tax relief, to block energy legislation that would have hurt Louisiana businesses and, as Mr. Ferguson correctly noted, against the immigration reform bill. In fact, last year, I was ranked the 2nd most moderate and bipartisan member of my party, according to Congressional Quarterly.

In Washington, I'll continue to work with the leaders of both political parties. No member of our delegation should put their party before their state, whether they are Democrats or Republicans. That is the tradition of our delegation, and it h as been a shame to see that tradition eroded. By working in a commonsense, bipartisan fashion, I firmly believe that we can better our state and our country as a whole together.
    U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu

    H.R.2956
    SUMMARY AS OF:
    7/10/2007--Introduced.
Title: To require the Secretary of Defense to commence the reduction of the number of United States Armed Forces in Iraq to a limited presence by April 1, 2008, and for other purposes.

Responsible Redeployment from Iraq Act - Expresses the sense of Congress that: (1) the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 authorized the President to use the Armed Forces as appropriate to defend U.S. national security against the continuing threat posed by the government of Iraq at the time; (2) the government of Iraq which was in power at that time has been removed; (3) the current Iraqi government does not pose a threat to the United States; and (4) after more than four years of efforts by members of the Armed Forces and U.S. civilians, the government of Iraq must now be responsible for Iraq's future course.

Directs the Secretary of Defense to commence the reduction of the number of Armed Forces in Iraq beginning no later than 120 days after the enactment of this Act and complete the reduction and transition to a limited presence in Iraq by no later than April 1, 2008

Directs the President, by January 1, 2008, to transmit to the congressional defense, appropriations, and foreign relations committees a comprehensive U.S. strategy for Iraq. Requires the President to update such strategy no later than July 1, 2008, and every 90 days thereafter, including a description of the number of Armed Forces deployed to Iraq and the missions for which they are so deployed.

the rest of louisiana's criminal congressional delegation [rodney alexander, richard hugh baker, charles boustany, jim mccrery] voted against withdrawing american troops in this unconstitutional, illegal, immoral quagmire.

shockingly, charlie melancon (who like the rest of them except william jefferson) is usually a straight up george dubya bush arse licker voted for troop withdrawal.

william jefferson voted for troop withdrawal as well and we certainly thank them.

    house approves wiretap bill
    the guardian.co.uk
    by charles babington
    excerpt:
The new law ... will expire in six months unless Congress renews it. The administration wanted the changes to be permanent.

Many congressional Democrats wanted tighter restrictions on government surveillance, but yielded in the face of Bush's veto threats and the impending August recess.

``This bill would grant the attorney general the ability to wiretap anybody, any place, any time without court review, without any checks and balances,'' said Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., during the debate preceding the vote. ``I think this unwarranted, unprecedented measure would simply eviscerate the 4th Amendment,'' which prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures.

    excerpt:
Bush’s aides argued that their access to this electronic data might help detect terrorists, but the data could prove even more useful in building dossiers on anti-war activists or blackmailing political opponents. A targeted individual would have almost no privacy in the face of an all-knowing government.

Despite the administration’s assurance that political abuses wouldn’t happen, the capability would be a huge temptation for political strategists like Karl Rove who have made clear that they view anyone not supporting Bush’s war on terror as a terrorist ally.

so how did louisiana's criminal congressional delegation vote on this garbage you ask? well, besides piyush "bobby" jindal who wasnt even present and is listed as not voting which doesnt matter because his george dubya bush rubber stamping ass would have voted for it anyway, only william jefferson voted against this - so thank you congressman jefferson. which brings us to our senior (and hopefully after the 2008 elections former) senator katrina mary landrieu.

it seems that everyone except louisiana's democrats and democratic party officials knows that this two-bit whore to the bush crime machine is in actuality a republican in everything but name only. in all the unconstitutional, freedom robbing legislation this slut falls right in lockstep with george bush. hey katrina mary you must really love the taste of that bush boot leather eh? you bitch.
you will never see any of the states democratic leadership coming out to repudiate katrina mary's republican tendencies either, because, they are so dumb they alienated the vast majority of the states voters driving them (like the spider and the fly) into the nazi republican party. thanks to the mess of their own making they have no choice in their most likely futile attempt to cling to power by supporting any jackass sporting a (d) at the end of their name. including that equally democratic imbecile charlie melancon.

pat buchanan was spot on when he said that the republican and democratic parties are "two wings of the same bird of prey."

    excerpt from the washington times:
    Police in thought pursuit

    By Bruce Fein
    December 27, 2007

The Pope had his Index of Forbidden Books. Japan had its Thought Police against subversive or dangerous ideologies. And the United States Congress and President Bush have learned nothing from those examples.

Congress is perched to enact the "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 (Act)," probably the greatest assault on free speech and association in the United States since the 1938 creation of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC).
    [...]
The Senate companion bill (S. 1959), sponsored by Susan Collins, Maine Republican, has encountered little opposition. Especially in an election year, senators crave every opportunity to appear tough on terrorism. Few if any care about or understand either freedom of expression or the Thought Police dangers of S. 1959. Former President John Quincy Adams presciently lamented: "Democracy has no forefathers, it looks to no posterity, it is swallowed up in the present and thinks of nothing but itself."

Denuded of euphemisms and code words, the Act aims to identify and stigmatize persons and groups who hold thoughts the government decrees correlate with homegrown terrorism, for example, opposition to the Patriot Act or the suspension of the Great Writ of habeas corpus.

The Act will inexorably culminate in a government listing of homegrown terrorists or terrorist organizations without due process; a complementary listing of books, videos, or ideas that ostensibly further "violent radicalization;" and a blacklisting of persons who have intersected with either list.

Political discourse will be chilled and needed challenges to conventional wisdom will flag. There are no better examples of sinister congressional folly.

The Act inflates the danger of homegrown terrorism manifold to justify creating a marquee National Commission on the Prevention of Violent Radicalization and Ideologically Based Violence (Commission) in the legislative branch. Since September 11, 2001, no American has died from homegrown terrorism, while about 120,000 have been murdered.
    [...]
Prior to September 11, homegrown terrorism consisted largely of Timothy McVeigh, Eric Rudolph, the Unibomber and the D.C. Metropolitan area snipers. The Act, nevertheless, counterfactually finds "homegrown terrorism ... poses a threat to domestic security" that "cannot be easily prevented through traditional federal intelligence or law enforcement efforts."

Under the Act, William Lloyd Garrison would have been guilty of promoting "violent radicalization" for publishing the anti-slavery Liberator in 1831, which "facilitated" John Brown. Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton would have been condemned for assailing laws disenfranchising women and creating an intellectual atmosphere receptive to violence. And Martin Luther King, Jr. would have fallen under the Act's suspicion for denouncing Jim Crow and practicing civil disobedience, which "facilitated" H. Rap Brown.
    [...]
Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes observed in Gitlow v. New York (1925): "Every idea is an incitement. It offers itself for belief and if believed it is acted on unless some other belief outweighs it or some failure of energy stifles the movement at its birth. The only difference between expression of an opinion and an incitement in the narrower sense is the speaker's enthusiasm for the result."

according to house roll call vote #993 of 23 october 2007 for H.R.1955 with the exception of piyush "bobby" jindal who didnt bother to vote, every other congressman from louisiana voted for this bill:
    rodney alexander - yea
    richard hugh baker - yea
    charles boustany - yea
    wm. jefferson - yea
    jim mccrery - yea
    charlie melancon - yea
This bill is completely insane. It literally allows the government to define any and all crimes including thought crime as violent radicalization and homegrown terrorism. Obviously, this legislation is unconstitutional on a number of levels and it is clear that all 404 representatives who voted in favor of this bill are traitors and should be removed from office immediately. The treason spans both political parties and it shows us all that there is no difference between them. The bill will go on to the Senate and will likely be passed and signed into the law by George W. Bush. Considering that draconian legislation like the Patriot Act and the Military Commissions Act have already been passed, there seems little question that this one will get passed as well. This is more proof that our country has been completely sold out by a group of traitors at all levels of government. ~ rogue government link
