wgso is reporting that earlier this morning a thirteen year old eighth grader at john curtis christian school at river ridge, louisiana, shot himself just outside the football locker room, near the gymnasium, in view of other students shortly after school came into session.
wgso says that the student is in critical condition at oschner medical center and that prayers are requested for the student, his family, the school and everyone involved.
A John Curtis eighth-grade student, described as a ‘happy go lucky’ young man, shot himself outside of the school gym Monday morning.
Eutsler said the incident was a single case of attempted suicide and that no other child was injured.
J.T. Curtis, acting headmaster at John Curtis Christian School, identified the student as 13-year-old Joseph Lynn, an eighth-grader he described as a "happy-go-lucky kid." Curtis said the boy's name was released at the request of Lynn's mother, who wanted the public to pray for him.
Curtis said the shooting happened minutes before the start of classes. "One of the young ladies heard a noise. She went back there, and saw him sitting there," Curtis said. "She immediately came to us. We went back there and saw blood, and called the sheriff's office. ~ link

John Curtis student who shot himself Monday dies
JEFFERSON, La. (AP) — The 13-year-old student who shot himself Monday at a private school in Jefferson Parish has died.
The shooting happened minutes before the start of classes Monday at John Curtis Christian School in River Ridge.
J.T. Curtis, acting headmaster, says the shooting occurred near the gym.
The boy was identified as Joseph Lynn. His mother asked that his name be released so the public could pray for him. Lynn had been on life-support since surgery at Ochsner Medical Center.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Norman says Lynn was pronounced dead Tuesday, 06 November 2007 at 8:10 a.m.====
