kalb's meteorologist tom konvicka says that central louisiana faces three threats from hurricane gustav:1) the most dangerous threat: flooding
mr. konvicka says that gustav will still be a tropical storm even as far inland as east of fort polk and leesville. [fort polk radar]
2) tornadoes
3) high wind
hurricane force gusts of wind (74mph+) are possible south and east of alexandria. there is a high risk of tornadoes because much of the area will be near the center-line and/or to the right of the center-line.
central louisiana could see 10" - 15" of rain; perhaps even 20" which will cause flooding.
hurricane gustav is expected to come ashore around noon central time monday 01 september 2008.
