injured louisiana bull rider corbin carpenter enters a texas rehab

corbin carpenter was discharged from san juan regional medical center on 01 august 2008, the farmington, new mexico daily times reports.
excerpt:

He's undergoing rehabilitation at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, where he's listed in good condition, according to Ashley Howland, the facility's spokeswoman.

"He's doing really good. He's moving both legs," said Carpenter's mother, Theresa, on Monday. "His left side is a little stronger, but his right side is getting better."

Carpenter broke three vertebrae in his upper spine and sustained a spinal cord injury July 25 when the bull he was riding threw him, then trampled and kicked him in the back of the head.

He underwent two surgeries at San Juan Regional to stabilize the injury and relieve pain before he was discharged to the Texas facility. Today marks his first week there.

"He's in excellent spirits, he's laughing and joking," Theresa Carpenter said. "A young lady came to visit him because she heard a cute bullrider was on the floor."

Her son is handling the situation well, she added. A team of therapists works with him for four and one-half to five hours each day.

"He's putting out 110 percent, but that doesn't surprise me, knowing Corbin," she said. "I have a peace about this. He will walk again." ~ read more
