town talk pronounces alexandria city counsel prez everett hobbs a failure
kudo's to the alexandria daily town talk for not falling for or being intimidated by alexandria city counsel president everett hobbs recent charges of racism. we also like the way that the town talk turns it around and puts the focus squarely on the remaining six city councilmen to do something about their failing leader:
The body for which he speaks includes six other council members: Charles "Chuck" Fowler, Roosevelt Johnson, Myron Lawson, Louis Marshall, Harry Silver and Charles Smith Jr.so will the remaining six city councilmen step up to the plate and remove president hobbs? we're not very encouraged since it appears that president hobbs together with at least four other councilmen (the bridgett brown 5) appear to be operating together in the same organized crime ring.
The councilmen have chosen and endorsed Everett Hobbs as their leader, so they are the chorus behind what their leader says. They can sing his praises, or they can remain quiet. It's their choice. Either way, through praise or silence, they say the same thing: that they support their leader.
On the other hard, they can choose to criticize their leader -- because they disagree with him, because they think he stepped over the line, because they think he is wrong about something, or because they think he may be unfit to handle the responsibilities of the position.
perhaps if state attorney general charles foti had spent as much time, money and energy enthusiastically investigating and prosecuting corrupt public officials as he did prosecuting dr. anna pou he just might not be facing such a hard struggle for reelection.
in a side note, it appears that bridgett brown's brother, garry brown, writing under his favorite sock puppet "love4aex" (all town talk posts by love4aex) after reading this town talk editoral promises not to related posts

alexandria, la. city council prez everett hobbs plays the race card again
check this out...alexandria, louisiana city council president, everett hobbs and four other city councilmen (the bridgett brown 5), who just happen to be black, are caught red handed violating the open meetings law and the way they were caught wasnt the result of any investigation or anybody following them around etc -- they were caught by letters that they signed themselves and they were caught on video tape discussing it at city council meetings in which they knew they were being video taped at to begin with.
so, mayor jacques roy puts out a call for citizens to demand an investigation and one person answers mayor roy's call. a local attorney who just happens to be white. so what does council president hobbs do? he hollars racism. in fact anyone that dares to question his or the other members of the bridgett brown 5 crime gang actions and/or motives are branded as racists as well. such as councilman hobbs accusation of racism hurled at the alexandria daily town talk in a recent your mail from him to them.
this all brings back to mind an incident this past spring of 2007 when a local pastor, the reverend leroy johnson confronted councilman hobbs and gave him a good dressing down. is reverend johnson a racist too?

board to explore ethics charges against everett hobbs

not to be outdone he then goes on to point out that councilman myron lawson "is a successful business person who sits on the board of the largest black university system in the world." what councilman hobbs fails to point out is that just about everything councilman lawson is involved in has some sort of scandal attached. including the southern university board.
councilman hobbs points out that "louis marshall served his country in the military with distinction." councilman marshall might have served in the military however the evidence shows that he didnt learn anything in the military because if he did he would believe in and practice duty, honor and fidelity. we've shown that councilman marshall's own actions show him to be a liar and a scam.
next, councilman hobbs writes that "charles frederick has given his time and life to the service of this city." to which he has been greatly compensated for it too -- such as last year when councilman "charles frederick" used taxpayer money to pay for his fraternal organizations meeting here in alexandria. another scammer.
lastly, theres roosevelt "rosie" johnson. perhaps the greatest disappointment in this sad, sorry lot. councilman hobbs writes that councilman johnson "came within 17 votes of being elected this city's first black mayor." this isnt accurate either because councilman johnson came within 17 votes of getting into the runoff -- not being elected mayor. councilman johnson is the biggest disappointment because we thought that he, of all people, was the most honest and sincere of this crew. however, his recent actions shows that he is nothing but a puppet to and a proud member of this organized crime ring thats currently running the alexandria city council.
when criminals who just happen to be black play the race card when they get caught with their hands in the cookie jar it cheapens and makes it even harder for other black people to be taken seriously who are truly victims of racism.
alexandria doesnt have a racism problem, alexandria has a criminal problem. so everyone of color, dont be a sucker! reject these excuses and lies for just what they are.

councilman fowler asked "here in other words you're going to amend it not to show the june 12th meeting?" councilman hobbs replied that he was amending it to start today and councilman fowler cut in: "nah, i'am asking you if you're amending it specifically not show the june 12th meeting?" councilman hobbs replied "i'am amending it to start today and into the future."
a voice vote was then taken and councilman fowler asked for a roll call vote the yeas were myron lawson, everett hobbs, louis marshall and roosevelt johnson. voting no were harry silver and chuck fowler.
and there ya have it alexandria. if this doesnt prove to you that you have a majority of criminals running your city nothing will. the only question is what are you going to do about it?

councilman harry silver seconded the motion and called for discussion. the resolution was met with strong resistance from the usual suspects.
in the meantime, the resolution is supposed to be brought up in tonights city council meeting. attend the city council meeting or watch channel four for more...

vote no to taxes & rein in the city counsel
although the number of reasons for alexandrian's to reject tomorrows sales and property tax renewals is myriad, perhaps the most glaring reason is the city counsels recent decision to censor your right to know regarding the city counsel's rather blatant coverup of the 12 june 2007 special city counsel meeting.
as far as all of the boo hoo hoo stories in the media lately where they are trying to play on your fears of decreased police protection if the taxes fail -- well katrina taught us that the government cannot and will not protect you anyway. in fact the police was going around taking the honest law abiding citizens guns while the looters roamed free. would you rather have a dozen honest cops or a hundred crooked cops?
why should you continue to finance city counsel chicanery off the sweat of your brow? vote no to any and all taxes.

alexandria city government: full of house negros
inspired by, but with apologies to, our pal the field negro
the alexandria, louisiana city councilfrom left to right: myron lawson, harry silver, charles frederick smith,
everett hobbs president, louis marshall, chuck fowler, roosevelt johnson
whats so dismaying and so disturbing to us because quite frankly we have been treated better by some black people in some situations than by our own kind, is to hear people talking in alexandria, at the barber shop, in line at the post office, etc... about for instance the developing utility bill crisis or the cleco case scandal, about how thats what you get when you elect blacks and they take over. no....to this we say - this is what happens when you elect house negro's and house negro's take over.
only a house negro would come up with and vote for alexandria's new abandoned vehicle ordinance and then have the town talk go out and photograph so called abandoned vehicles but only in the black neighborhoods...a field negro on the other hand loves the constitution and the rights that so many people have given so much to bring into force...
a field negro feels just as compassionate for an old white woman who's struggling with her bills as he does for his own grandmother. a field negro never plays the race card because he sees his child and a white child playing in the park and marvels at their example. how it is that what all children only want and only see in another child is a potential friend and playmate. so he knows that racism and prejudice is not an inherent human condition but is taught and passed down in all races from generation to generation;
only a house negro would use taxpayer money to pay for a big party for him and his other house negros. a field negro would say come enjoy the fellowship but only if you can afford it and bring a sack lunch.
mr. felton joshua age 89on the alexandria utility bill crisis
"to me it's just robbing people thats all i can see they just robbing people"
video
only a house negro would accept the excuse that was offered up by alexandria's finance director, david crutchfield, as to whether or not to rescind late penalties on utility bills because "that besides providing an incentive for customers to pay bills on time, the city also receives a lot of money each fiscal year from late payments.
In fiscal year 2004-05, Alexandria received $3 million from late fees and in 2005-06, $1.5 million. So far this fiscal year, which ends April 30, the late payments are around $1 million, Crutchfield said." when every field negro knows that in america the government is by, for and of the people and additionally everything in the city is already owned by the citizens of the city. only a house negro would try to "lord over" the people in such a way.
only house negro's would squander thousands of the taxpayers dollars on such foolish ventures and the dana pitcher boxing event and yeah we will throw que'in on the red in that too and every other bread and circus financed by the city when this looming utility bill crisis is hanging over the peoples heads. a field negro learns from his old enemy the fire ant and stores his provisions in the good times in preparation for the lean times. a field negro is looking out for and thinking about how soon the burning sun will appear and the elderly will be dropping like flies because they cant afford to run their air conditioners.
we have to wonder what the slaves would say about the present situation. would they be pleased? probably not. we imagine that they would be outraged and would say something along the lines of how dare you use our names and our struggle to advance your selfish cause. they would say that you didnt learn anything from us. and that you are just like the slave masters you are only about money, power and controlling other peoples lives.
its time for the field negros to come in from the fields...

alexandria la locking down city hall
we noticed how a recent town talk article "access restricted to first-floor city hall offices." [our clipping] recounts how alexandria's brain trust has seen fit to lock down alexandria, louisiana city hall. alexandria, city council president everett hobbs said that it was done to protect several female city hall workers.
billy gunn writes that according to mr. hobbs no one else other than city council clerks, those elected to the council and a few other city employees such as the television producer for council meetings can get into the back offices including the break room. additionally we learn that in the lobby offices that had "formerly housed tax and utility receipts clerks also are secured for current employees. those who work in the city's computer systems divisions also sit behind locked-tight doors."
not to be outdone:
"There also are locks to the two doors that lead from council chambers to the former committee room, Hobbs' and the clerks' offices, and to the break room. Shutting off public entrance to the break room prohibits non-city employees from eating from the buffet that is catered for every council meeting.as if after reading about how the city council is eating hi-on-the-hog with expensive catered council meeting parties to the tune of $11,129 [8,554eur] or an average of $428.03 [329eur] per meeting (26 meetings total) and that the regular joe and jane six-packs are now denied access to their own city hall wouldnt piss someone off -- out comes another article Alexandria City Council to delay boxing contract vote [our clipping] published again by the town talk reveals how the city of alexandria paid $15,000 [11,534eur] to "dana pitcher productions, inc." for an 04 november 2006 "boxing and mixed martial arts show at the Alexandria Riverfront Center." which is very interesting to us because for one thing we cant find a dana pitcher productions, inc. listed in the louisiana sec'y of state corporations database. however, a search of "dana pitcher" returns a whole page of inactive corporations. so we dont know whats going on there. we dont understand why the city is paying someone to produce "events" here in alexandria. it would seem that promoters should be paying the city for use of public facilities, security, maintenance and so forth. also the town talk article doesnt say but it would appear that the city paid much more than the $15k when you take into consideration the cost of the electricity, security and so forth...
Fewer eaters should cut down on the expenses of catering, Hobbs said, "unless the mayor brings a whole lot of staff down."
next, came the town talk article: City councilman wants buildings to come tumbling down [our clipping] billy gunn writes about how "Alexandria officials are undertaking a comprehensive study of what can be done to take over abandoned commercial buildings" then mr. gunn qualifies that statement by reminding us that abandoned (commercial...for now at least) buildings are "a blight on the face of the city." this might not sound like such a bad idea until you consider this other article mr. gunn wrote New ordinance allows Alexandria to remove abandoned vehicles quickly [our clippng] which we blogged about here about how alexandria has taken it upon themselves to suspend the constitution and without due process, arbitrarily seize a person's property. so if the city government can seize your property (a vehicle) under the flimsiest of excuses then whats to stop them from seizing other property i.e. your (according to them) abandoned building or even eventually your house?
it looks like someone in city government has been reading their bible -- especially the part where king solomon at proverbs chapter twenty-nine verse two wrote about how "when the righteous are in authority the people rejoice" however, looks like they have skipped that part and focused on the second part of that verse "but when the wicked beareth rule the people mourn." if the people that "rule" over alexandria where truly righteous there would be no need to lock down city hall. if they were righteous they would gladly share their catered meals with the citizens who are interested enough in city government operations that come there to see them work. they would be honored. the citizens paid for it anyway. if they were righteous they wouldnt be thinking of ways to steal the citizens property and just who benefits from all this anyway?
so it looks like there is going to shortly be a whole bunch of pissed off people in alexandria and now you know why city hall is locking down.

kalb 'indefinetly delays' apd taser police brutality story!
wst... has learned that kalb-tv news director michele godard has indefinitly delayed this important story that was scheduled to air tonight during the six pm news.yesterday, wst... contacted gregory r. aymond, esq., attorney for mr. and mrs. robert (doris) moses for a followup inquiry to the status of this story. wst... was told by mr. aymond that on on thursday 04 october 2007 a reporter from kalb (mike magnoli) spent about an hour at mr. aymond's law office interviewing mr. robert moses, his wife doris and mr. aymond regarding the unseemly events that unfolded on easter sunday 2007 on lisa street in alexandria, louisiana.
mr. aymond told wst... that the story was scheduled to air tonight, and forwarded to us the following email he received from mike magnoli
Dear Greg, after the six pm news aired tonight wst... again contacted mr. aymond to ask why the story didnt air. after mr. aymond reminded wst... that it was kalb who contacted him last thursday about the story, he said that he had been informed today by kalb, that michele godard said that after the tragic events of last week, she didnt feel the 'timing was right to slam the police.'
I know YOU know what happened on Thursday-- remember those emergency cell phone calls from my station-- but I just wanted to touch base with you, to give you a synopsis of whats in the works:
I am out of the state- returning to Alexandria on Tuesday morning. I intend to air the interview with Ms. Moses on Tuesday evening! After my story, there will be a piece with police reaction, the mayor's reaction and likely the city council's reaction. Whoa! Yes indeed, your case is THAT big.
Thanks,
Mike Magnoli
mr aymond sent us the demand letter he sent today to the city of alexandria, mr. aymond tells wst... that if no settlement with the city is reached, he will seek relief for his clients in a court of law and not in the media.
demand letter
click here to download two page .pdf demand lettermr aymond says that his clients would like to see this incident publicized so that it will spark an investigation by the alexandria police department so that this type of outrage wont happen to other citizens.
according to the below witness statement from that day, the police on the scene were partially blocking the street, stopping, frisking and even handcuffing black drivers, while allowing white drivers to pass unmolested.
this intense easter sunday man hunt was to arrest the dangerous criminal mr. robert moses for not paying his fine for fishing without a license. this was after the rapides district attorneys office told the alexandria police department not to mess with him. one hopes that no other serious crimes were going on elsewhere in alexandria whilst this intense manhunt was ongoing in martin park. in a side note according to the louisiana secretary of state's website everett c. hobbs the president of the alexandria city councilman lives only a few doors down on lisa street from mr. and mrs. moses. we wonder how councilman hobbs can possibly know whats going on in all of alexandria when he doesnt seem to know or care whats taking place right under his nose.
click here to download four page .pdf witness statementone also has to wonder just what kalb news director and unsuccessful blogger, michele godard considers to be real news. we noticed that tonight in both the five and six pm news casts how kalb featured a non-news fluff piece passed off as an interview with apd chief daren coutee about the tragic events of last week, to which chief coutee replied, that "i dont want to make any premature comments about whats going on right now, since we're still not in a phase where we can distinguish anything in particular without going over the facts and making sure we're correct." he really couldnt offer any answers -- however an important news story that involves real people gets effectively killed.
one also has to wonder how many other important news stories are killed by kalb for political reasons when they could possibly upset politicians. one also has to wonder just how many other fluff pieces are produced and held out to be real news but are designed and timed to be nothing more than as the british say to 'sex up' various politicians and advertisers. speaking of advertisers we noticed via c.b. forgotston's blog see economic development la style that alexandria was bragging how much money they made off of the jena 6 protesters, well perhaps they will make that much or more off of the alexandria 1 march.

video: calling out the alexandria city council part 2
on tuesday 12 june 2007 the alexandria, louisiana city council held a meeting and according to the city's agenda (copy here) the meeting was to be held pursuant to La RS 42:6.1 (A)(2). agenda item C 1) states: "to consider an executive session for an update from the administration regarding the matter of "city of alexandria vs. cleco corporation, et al"
sometime prior to 11 june 2007 attorney bridgett brown filed a "petition of intervention" which in effect made her an adverse party to the city of alexandria because ms. brown's petition was made part of the ongoing city of alexandria v cleco corporation lawsuit in the united states district court for the western district, alexandria, louisiana -- see civil action number 05-CV-1121-A.
the bridgett brown five
linkall five letters say the same thing the only difference between each letter is the name and signature line(s)
the councilmen's letter ends with "both the administrative and the legislative bodies must operate within the powers granted it under the city charter." then an admonishment to johnson, roy and michiels that they should "...read the charter and adhere to its provisions." thats real funny the councilmen would write this because the alexandria city charter at part 1, article IV administration: section 4-02 legal division (c) clearly states: "Any assistant city attorneys authorized by the city council shall be appointed by the city attorney and serve at his pleasure."
while its true that section 4-02 (D) states that "No special legal counsel shall be employed by the city except by written contract and approval of the city council." this is a moot point because you cant sue the city while at the same time be a city attorney...you follow? additionally the attorney rules of professional conduct prohibit it -- see : rule 1.6. confidentiality of information; rule 1.7. conflict of interest: current clients; rule 1.8. conflict of interest: current clients: specific rules; rule 1.13. organization as client. additionally, as charles johnson explained, the federal judge has already signed an order dismissing ms. brown as an attorney for the city and she has not signed a confidentiality agreement that the federal judge required to be privy to the mediation. therefore, how could ms. brown be in attendance at the executive session discussing these matters? all lawyers knew that, as is seen in their refusal to attend that meeting if ms. brown would be present.
according to mayor jacques roy, these letters were not delivered to the recipients johnson, roy and michiels until shortly before the 12 june 2007 city council meeting.
heres where things really get interesting.
the city council meeting was called to discuss the cleco litigation and the armested franklin v city of alexandria suit, which the last we heard is in ninth judicial district court division "f" (judge george c. metoyer) docket number 228,034. ms. brown is suing the city due to her intervention petition; her attorney is larry english and mr. english is also the attorney who is handling the armested suit. despite all this at least five alexandria city coucilmen are adamant about allowing ms. brown to attend the executive session in which the very suit that she is an adverse party to the city would be discussed and additionally a suit in which her attorney is representing the adverse party was to also be discussed. this is explained better in the video below where attorney trey gist says words to the effect that you cant sue the city and be the citys attorney at the same time.
can you see the deception? can you see what at least five alexandria city councilmen are trying to pull here? where is the rapides parish district attorney at? where is the louisiana state attorney general at or the louisiana state police or the louisiana attorney disciplinary board? as we see with the poverty point reservoir scam and the louisiana institute of film and technology scam is it going to take the fbi to come in and clean up yet another louisiana corruption problem?
kalb.com has 3 heavily edited clips of this video on their website - only wst... gives you the complete unedited footage with which to make up your own mind.

is 'love4aex' another garry brown sock puppet?
a couple of days ago we posted here about how central la politics blog caught bridgett brown's brother garry brown running a comment scam on the kalb video blog. yesterday we were perusing the town talk's website and wound up at their post of alexandria, la. city council president everett hobbs, by now, infamous letter. we very seldom read the story chat comments because people do like to run comment scams (if you want to know more about how comment, message board and forum scammers operate - eric hufschmid explains how here) but since at that post all the town talk had was a link to a .pdf file of the councilman hobbs letter we couldnt help but notice the story chat comments.
this one by "pinevillain" specifically:
and we found that 'love4aex' had been going round spamming a copy of councilman hobbs letter into various town talk story chat threads such as this one which looks like the town talk has deleted as being "off topic."
if you look on this screen grab third sentence up from the bottom you will see what "pinevillain" was talking about.if you place your mouse cursor over the alias "one" at and look down into your status bar you will see that the email address given is gbrown@parata.com.
then look at this comment on the town talk forum by 'love4aex':

**flash** special alexandria city council meeting monday morn...
**updated** 12:51 pm cdt monday 25 september 2006
town talk...

The Alexandria City Council today decided to proceed with Saturday's elections in council Districts 2 and 4 despite questions over the boundaries of the districts.
The council met in special session today and learned that only a dozen votes are affected by the boundary dispute. Because of the small number of votes affected, the council decided to proceed with the elections.
There had been the possibility that elections would be delayed for District 2, where incumbent Councilman Everett Hobbs faces challenger Darrell Hickman; and District 4, where incumbent Harry Silver faces Marc Lampert.
Rapides Parish Registrar of Voters Joanell Wilson last week discovered that the wrong map was used to draw council district lines for voting purposes.
original post
absentee voting for next saturdays election began monday. some voters in district 2 and 4 upon going to the registar's office the first day to cast their ballot began to learn that they couldnt vote for their candidate for councilman in the district that they live in due to whats being called a map discrepancy between the rapides area planning commission, the city and the registar's respective map. they are all drawn differently so that the new ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES werent programmed correctly. (or where they?) thats how people found out when they went to vote the machine wouldnt let them. click here to read an anonymous commentator over on cenla antics blog who scooped the MSM and broke the news to the blogosphere around 7 pm wednesday. There will be a Special City Council meeting on
Monday, September 25, 2006 at 11:30 A.M.
in the City Council Chambers to discuss the following:
To consider a report from the Administration and City Attorney on concerns regarding the elections of Council Districts 2 and 4 and To consider adoption of a resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Administration to take necessary actions that may be required.
the registrar of voters said that the election would proceed unless and until someone filed a suit and a judge ruled to stop it. as you can imagine everyone in alexandria is up in arms about it. this morning the town talk website published a story by billy gunn see Alexandria denies it contributed to inaccurate council boundaries in which mr. gunn reported that a baton rouge voting rights attorney leo hamilton who according to the louisiana state bar association website is with the baton rouge law firm of Breazeale, Sachse Wilson, L.L.P. will be at this special city council meeting monday morning. everyone wants to know who in the city called this baton rouge lawyer to come interfere in the election and on what authority and how much it will cost when it should be up to a voter or candidate to file a suit if it should come to that in the first place. look for a good crowd at the city council meeting.
click here to view and toggle the citys official district map from its websiteanother city attorney howard b. "trey" gist, iii, was quoted as saying in that town talk article that the city had the only official map and this map came from the citys website so it must be the official map.
