in july the fbi and the irs raided senator stevens home in alaska. they were looking closely at his ties to an alaskan energy services company named veco. veco's chief executive pleaded guilty to a bribery scheme involving state lawmakers. back in 2000, veco executives oversaw a very elaborate remodeling of senator steven's home and there was questions about that remodeling that investigators had asked of senator stevens; that he did not supply accurate information about.
