louisiana public service dist #4 commissioner clyde holloway will hold a public meeting starting at 6:00 pm on tuesday 02 march 2010 at buckeye high school to discuss high speed internet access for rural areas.

this morning he was on ksyl talk back live program to talk about the issues he expects to cover at the meeting.

commissioner holloway also talks about the recent cleco rate increase but believes that with the rodemacher 3 power plant coming online that customers will see a rate decrease in a few months.

he says that he talked to cleco this past friday and "they're promising [the psc] that they hope to be cheaper than entergy -- the lowest in the state -- in the next few months as far as electric bills."

according to holloway cleco customers are also going to receive a refund next month.

louisiana public service district #4 commissioner clyde holloway was on the radio this morning to promote his rural broadband meeting this 02 march 2010, but early on says that "we've had a rough week this week with cleco bills going out ... with the increases it's tough on people." then a little while later after mentioning the meeting he says it again "but right now this week with bills coming out, and there was some mistakes made that'll come back on the next bill." unfortunately moon griffon did not properly follow-up so we never learned what mr. holloway was talking about.

back on 21 march 2007 the ouachita citizen published a guest column by former congressman dr. john cooksey captioned "louisiana needs jindal." kooky err cooksey wrote in to give his own twisted and distorted propaganda effort to the piyush "bobby" jindal campaign.

dr. cooksey's first of many yet major lie is that piyush is a "committed christian." this is a flat out lie. piyush claims that he is a roman catholic. catholics are not christians. catholics are their own separate and distinct religious faith. christians believe in a personal relationship with jesus christ. catholics do not - they pray to mary and a host of saints to interceed to jesus on their behalf - heres an interesting story wherein a nun prayed to the late pope john paul 2 - this is a totally foreign belief to christians. christians believe in being born again. catholics do not. catholics believe that the pope is infallible and speaks as god himself. christians believe that all are sinners. catholics have their own bible - the latin vulgate. catholics have historically such as during the inquisition sought to exterminate anyone who does not as they do swear allegiance to mary (semiramis) and the pope.

this isnt a knock on catholics. we dont have anything against catholic people in fact many of our ancestors were staunch irish catholics when they came over back in the mid 1800s and a lot of them are buried in the old catholic cemetery located near the holloway prairie. [map] we are just saying hey there is a difference in what catholics and baptists believe;

there used to be a time when preachers; especially baptist preachers, stood up and told the truth about these things. sadly that day is no more. consider for example a news item that appeared recently in the leesville daily leader online newspaper: "Congressman Bobby Jindal made a trip to Leesville." that page has since been taken down.
the story was about how piyush spoke in a baptist church - east leesville baptist church to be exact to give his "testimony." do you see the deception? catholics do not have a testimony at least in the christian sense. another story we came across "jindal alert!" by way of the rapides parish republican womens club blog (another bunch of liars and con artists) about how piyush was to speak at the first baptist church of oakdale, once again to give his so called "testimony."

both the pastors and the board of deacons of these two churches (and any others that partake of this) should be investigated and thrown out on their ears. it is an abomination, a heresy and blasphemy for an unbeliever to stand in the pulpit of a baptist church and give what they are passing off as his "testimony." these pastors and deacons are misleading the faithful. jesus himself said that its better to have a millstone hung around your neck and be thrown into the sea than to mislead a child.

nothing will be said; nothing will be done because the christian church and especially the baptist church has been totally infiltrated by liars and change agents. we see the same thing at louisiana college. recently lc celebrated its 100th anniversary. now instead of inviting a speaker that would inspire and motivate the students to honor god and to live a christ like life the administration of louisiana college invited the diabolically evil george h. w. bush to speak. this is who the administration and by extension the baptists hold out as someone to be emulated. then when one looks closer you can easily see that bush's invitation was only in order to raise money [.pdf] [video] for the college. so instead of working to minister to their students spiritual health the administration of louisiana college are a bunch of whores, giving themselves away as lovers of money. we see ever since bush spoke at lc they have had nothing but problems as two students have been arrested for drunk driving and who knows what else has happened there that has went unreported.

its easy for the discerning christian to see that with all of the lies and all of the deceptions involved in and behind the piyush "bobby" jindal candidacy that something wicked this way comes.

UPDATED tom konvicka forecasts severe weather high winds possible electrial outages for central louisiana

news report from noon monday 04 may 2009 on sunday 03 may 2009 storm

UPDATE 10:09 a.m. cdt monday 04 may 2009: we have to say that mr. konvicka hit the nail on the head with this forecast. shortly after posting this vid our electricity went out. then, the extremely high wind and torrential rains came -- it was giving us gustav flashbacks...so that wasnt good.

around 1:00 p.m. we went to check on elderly relatives who live in hickory grove. they were fine other than electric and phone service being out but we could see that there was a lot of destruction on the loop with large trees down in many places, including one large tree down across power lines near holloway baptist church.

as far as we could tell, the local radio stations sucked in providing any storm news coverage whatsoever. they all seemed to be carrying syndicated programming and had no studio people on site.

one local radio station that we had never heard of before -- red 104, seemed more interested in reciting their cutsey tag line: "crank this bitch up, yo!"

the bruce springsteen song, "57 channels (and nothin' on)" in which the boss was singing about cable and satellite t.v. could also apply to the radio dial.

around 10:00 p.m. we phoned up cleco, we werent calling to complain we were just wondering if they had any estimate as to when power would be restored to our area since by that time even hickory grove had electricity.

the operator at cleco was very kind and courteous and told us that power wouldnt be restored until sometime monday since the crews had stopped working for the night but were going to go back to work very early this morning.

we thanked the operator for the information and hung up but was a bit taken aback since we thought that it was cleco's policy to work continuously until all power had been restored.

it wasnt until around 7:45 this morning while we were listening to ksyl the bob and steve show, or whatever its called, when cenla chapter of the red cross c.e.o. leann murphy, phoned in about the destruction in dodson, montgomery and surrounding areas.

ms. murphy said that the red cross needs volunteers to help answer the phones to free up staff to go out in the field as well as volunteers to help pass out water etc. if you can help out and/or provide financial assistance -- their website is www.cenlaredcross.org.

our power was restored at 8:48 a.m.

Services for Frederick Herman Baden will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 19, 2009, at First Baptist Church, Pineville with Dr. Stuart Holloway and Reverends Jim Lofton and David Roberts officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.

Mr. Baden, 75, of Pineville, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Rapides Regional Medical Center.

Fred H. Baden was born and raised in Pineville. At the age of 18 he served his community as a volunteer fireman and worked as an auxiliary policeman. Fred became a plumber attaining the level of Master Plumber by age 28. He was elected Pineville City Alderman in 1966. In 1970, he ran for Mayor and was elected.

During his first term, he built a new Municipal Complex that housed the City Hall offices, the Police Department and the City Court and a Central Fire Station located behind City Hall.

Through his twenty eight years as Pineville's Mayor, he was dedicated to the awareness of the needs of the senior citizens. In 1978, he and the city council assisted the Rapides Senior Citizens Center in establishing a Center in Pineville. Mayor Baden was also instrumental in helping to establish the apartment complex for the elderly located on Highway 28 East. He diligently worked with Congressman Gillis Long to purchase the old Pineville Post Office on Main Street to be converted into a Pineville Senior Citizens Center.

Mr. Baden served on many Boards and Committees. He was one of the original members of the Rapides Area Planning Committee, the Salvation Army Board, Louisiana College Board of Development, Rapides Parish Solid Waste Committee, Advisory Council Member for Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce, the Rapides Senior Citizens Board, the Renaissance Board for Youth, and served three terms as Vice President of the Louisiana Municipal Association.

He was presented the Hometown Leadership Award which recognized elected officials for providing exemplary leadership. He also received the Louisiana College Trustee's Distinguished Service Award and the Louisiana National Guard Commendation Award.

In a newspaper article when he left office in 1998, he called himself a true public servant. "What we get out of life is what we do for others," he said. If there was one thing Baden never strayed from during his time as Mayor, it was his love of Pineville and its citizens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman & Maude Baden; daughter, Andrea Baden Broussard; sisters, Linnie Murray, and Louella Gatlin Bradford.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Roxan Babb Baden; sons, Mark Baden & wife Kathy, Gary Baden & wife Brenda, Tony Baden & wife Ludie, Freddy Baden & wife Celeste, Joshua Baden & wife Hope; daughters, Sara Edwards & husband Steve, Leah Baden, Tracy Goudeau & husband Steve; sister, Vivian Nugent; grandchildren, Micah Baden, Addyson Baden, Kalyn Baden, Clay Baden, Jerry Baden & wife Misty, Jennifer Tyler & husband David, Anna Baden, Sean Broussard, Melissa Baden, Freddy Baden, III, Celdan Baden, Elissa Baden, Nat Wolff, Gavin Wolff, Brady Baden, Carla Carpenter & husband Mike, Mandy Lowry & husband Ethan, Christopher Weatherford & wife Danielle, Steven Goudeau, Katie Goudeau, Victoria Thiels, Anita Moran & husband Eric; Great Grandchildren, Trenton, L. strong thunderstorm passes through rapides parish

this morning shortly before 8:00 am cdt, ominously dark clouds from out west brought a potentially severe thunderstorm to portions of north rapides parish, la. the storm did manage to knock out electrical power to parts of north rapides parish from around 8:00 am.

for a time it delivered heavy rain and strong lightning strikes accompanied by loud thunder. thankfully, there was little to no wind associated with the storm. eventually precipitation and stormy weather tapered off and the skies cleared though conditions remain partly cloudy.

around 9:00 am a cleco call center [1800-622-6537] operator named darlene said that cleco had suffered a lightning strike to a part of its grid resulting in around 1,800 customers without power.

shortly thereafter, wst... observed several cleco service utility and bucket trucks working on the lines. cleco had most if not all power restored by noon.

todays forecasted for more scattered thunderstorms until at least 11:00 pm cdt.
