UPDATE: Fortis Prediction of US Bank Meltdown a Net Hoax: The Making of an Urban Legend

The Financial Telegraph had a rather alarming article yesterday. It's in Dutch, but François Cellier has provided a translation.

American 'Meltdown' is the Reason for the Money Injection by Fortis

Votron stays on after a wave of criticism

by our correspondent
June 28, 2008, 09:10 a.m.

BRUSSEL/AMSTERDAM (DFT) - Fortis expects a complete breakdown of the American financial markets within days or weeks. This explains, according to the bank insurer, the series of interventions on Thursday with the aim of strengthening themselves by € 8 billion. "We are ready at the last moment. The U.S. is doing much worse than we had thought,” said Fortis chairman Maurice Lippens, who insists that CEO Votron shall not be replaced. Fortis expects bankruptcies of 6,000 U.S. banks that have low coverage. "But the same goes also for Citigroup and General Motors, and thereby starts a complete meltdown in the U.S.”

Fortis yesterday increased its capital by € 1.5 billion by means of emission of new shares. By the end of last year, the Belgian-Dutch group already had increased its capital by € 13 billion through issuing new stocks for the takeover of ABN Amro, for which they paid € 24 billion. Lippens based his concerns on talks with bankers. "Two months ago, we didn't know yet that the situation is so dire in the U.S. And the situation will further worsen. We need a thick cushion of funds to survive the next 18 months, when we bring in ABN Amro.”

Two weeks ago, the U.S. investment bank and adviser to Fortis Merrill Lynch reported that certainly € 6.2 billion in additional capital would be needed. ~ read more

meanwhile, the president, apparently under some sort of pretext having to do with north korea, has issued an executive order declaring a national emergency:
I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, find that the current existence and risk of the proliferation of weapons-usable fissile material on the Korean Peninsula constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States, and I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat. I further find that, as we deal with that threat through multilateral diplomacy, it is necessary to continue certain restrictions with respect to North Korea that would otherwise be lifted pursuant to a forthcoming proclamation that will terminate the exercise of authorities under the Trading With the Enemy Act (50 U.S.C. App. 1 et seq.) (TWEA) with respect to North Korea.

Accordingly, I hereby order: ~ read more

hotel bentley porch - 1965
wst... received the below email from mr. dale genius, director of the louisiana history museum:
With all of the lip service being given to historic preservation these days, I woke up one morning about two months ago and said to myself. I am going to do something, not just talk about it.

At that point historicbentley.com was born. Last week it came to life with the help of a very good friend in Tyler, Texas, Ken Freeman. He is a web designers, web designer, if there is such a thing.

The site speaks for it's self. There is even a forum for comments about your memories of the Bentley.

This was accomplished with no public money, no grants, no graft, no large research staff and no feasibility study's.

I put it together as a side link to the Louisiana History Museum and the Alexandria-retrospective.

I need all the publicity I can get to make people aware of it.

Any thing you can do is greatly appreciated!

Check it out.

Thanks!

dopey rino chris hazel has the stumblie-mumblies

geezo-crimey, is this guy pathetic or what? and to think that this guy is a lawyer and a former long-time assistant district attorney. no wonder he had to quit and become a politician -- he was probably tired of having his ass handed to him over and over again by mike small, george higgins and david stone.

we dont know about you, but we are sick and tired of these political hacks and fraudsters who in order to get votes claim to be conservative republicans
because it's currently fashionable to say you're a republican, then when they get to baton rouge, or washington district of criminals, do the exact opposite.

this could all be easily stopped if the louisiana republican party had honest and respectable leaders. sadly, the louisiana republican party has one of the most incompetent, ineffective jokes of a chairman in roger villere. you never see "chairman" (and we use that term lightly) villere come out to criticize or censure louisiana republican politicians when they sponsor or vote for legislation that is totally opposed to republican party ideals as shown by its own written platform.

whats obvious, is that the louisiana republican party, starting with "chairman" villere and extending down into the local level, has been infiltrated and taken over by an organized crime gang.

make no mistake -- we are not taking up for nor promoting the democratic party either -- democrats are just another branch of the organized crime gang. when are louisianaians going to wake up to the fact that the republican party and the democratic party not are, but already have, destroyed this state and nation and quit voting for these losers?

anyway, back to representative hazel. when he first announced his candidacy for house district 27, we noted that all one had to do was look at his background and apply just a little bit of common sense to see that he was going to be nothing but a total puppet of and tool to his elite criminal friends.

sure enough one of the first bills he filed was hb303 to hook-up his district attorney pals. next was hb1129 which makes it harder to investigate crooked cops. this bill was totally uncalled for and all you have to do is follow news aggregator sites like louisiana's own the dead pelican, or national aggregators such as drudge, rense or what really happened to name a few to see that almost everyday somewhere in louisiana or in the united states a policeman is arrested and charged with wrong doing. police need to be investigated quicker and more fully and not have stumblingblocks cast to impede an investigation such as rep. hazel has done here.

rep. hazel's hb373 is more pandering, "feel good" legislation. if representative hazel was any kind of honest, respectable republican he would have filed a resolution condemning the illegal and immoral iraq and afghanistan "wars" calling for our louisiana national guardsmen and fellow louisianaians in the regular armed services to be brought home at once. by filing this bill representative hazel is saying that he doesnt care that our servicemen are over seas fighting in illegal wars. its very likely that they will come home in a box or missing limbs and suffering severe mental problems - but hey we're gonna give you this nice license plate as a consolation prize.

as a further conscience assuager, rep. hazel's hb200 will excuse the children of our servicemen from school so they can tell their parent good bye as they leave to fight in illegal wars. after these kids are older what bill, what piece of legislation will rep. hazel offer to explain to them why and how we just we stood by, when we knew better, as their parent(s) were sent over-seas to be cannon fodder in an illegal war?

rep. hazel's hb1153 is yet another glaring example of just how uncaring and clueless rep. hazel actually is. rep. hazel produced and filed hb1153 not at the behest of the people but at the direction of the louisiana sheriff's association. now the louisiana sheriff's association this is the group that endorsed bob odom's reelection who at the time of their endorsement and for months if not years previously, had been under criminal indictment.

no respectable policeman is going to endorse for political office someone who is under indictment. can you understand that the louisiana sheriff's association is run by criminals? the louisiana sheriff's association should not be trusted to choose respectable political candidates (they also endorsed piyush "bobby" jindal) and they especially should not be trusted to come up with good legislation. the louisiana sheriff's association should themselves be investigated.

as this series of main stream media reports from my fox dc, kcal-california, cbs4-miami, fox61-connecticut, associated press, msnbc, fox news channel, fox8 news and on and on show -- kids carrying a back-pack with body armor inserts to school and presumably elsewhere, could use the backpack as a shield to possibly save their lives - and what does chris hazel the assclown, the moron do? he files a bill to outlaw it in louisiana and the louisiana legislature passes the bill!

if representative hazel is a true conservative republican then where was the legislation banning in perpetuity sales taxes? in perpetuity sales taxes are the latest scam local governments and police juries have thought up. its totally unamerican to force people that arent even born yet to pay taxes and never have the opportunity to have a say on them. getting rid of this scam is what a true conservative and one who truly cares about louisiana's children would do. but representative hazel is a puppet.

rep. hazel voted "yea" at every opportunity to lake charles democrat willie mount's dangerous and unconscionable sb312 which is forcing a medicine on ALL the citizens of louisiana. this is something that a doctor cannot do to ANY citizen in louisiana. a doctor cannot force an individual to take medicine without their informed consent.

do you think chris hazel or any other louisiana legislator has the authority moral or otherwise not to mention the intelligence to mandate that our babies, ourselves and our animals be medicated through our water supply? do you know that the american dental association now says that children under 12 months of age should not consume fluoridated water? -- for this reason alone flouridated water should be rejected!

do you know that the american kidney association advises that persons undergoing dialysis - that the dialysis machines do not use fluoridated water? furthermore, the american kidney association advises those with other kidney disease and ailments not to drink fluoridated water.

do you realize the enormous amounts of water cattle, horses, dogs, cats and other animals drink everyday and that kidney damage has been discovered in fluoride exposed animals?

did you know that an area in the human brain - the pineal gland which regulates the production of the hormone melantonin which is a hormone that helps regulate the onset of puberty and helps to protect the body from cell damage accumulates fluoride and that the accumulation of fluoride in this gland in animals suppresses the production of melantonin and accelerates the onset of sexual maturity and that further studies on humans is currently ongoing?

did you know that entire countries, including germany, belgium and luxembourg to name a few (97% of western europe has fluoride free water) have rejected fluoridated water and that here in the united states, entire states and cities have quit flouridating their water supply because of the health risks? but once again the ignorant know-nothing and dont want to know anything, louisiana legislature is rushing headlong to do the exact opposite of what is necessary and proper - most likely because they are getting kickbacks or campaign contributions from the sodium fluoride industry.

watch this report from nashville, tennessee's wsmv channel 4 about tennessee state representative (a republican of all things) joey hensley and learn about how a real representative acts and what a representative who is concerned and looking out for his constituents does. its called due diligence and to the louisiana legislature this is an unknown concept.

every state senator and every representative who voted for sb312 needs to be thrown out of office -- including here in central louisiana: chris hazel, chris roy, jr., herbert dixon and senator joe mcpherson.

senator mcpherson's vote for and co-authoring sb312 is a surprise as we thought that he had more sense than that. however, we shouldnt really be surprised since we've learned over the years from blogging that senator mcpherson always has to be involved in something shady or as he calls it -- "a cutesy deal."

this sb672 - the legislative pay raise fraud bill that everyone is up in the air about is nothing compared to the misery sb312 will bring upon our kids heads and on our heads.

furthermore, lake charles democrat willie mount the bills author together with monroe rino kay kellogg katz who handled sb312 in the house should be dragged from their homes by angry mobs with torches and pitchforks --tarred, feathered and run the hell out of louisiana. how dare you sit there and criticize piyush "bobby" jindal for being a spineless worm, which he is -- you grow a spine and find out what the corrupt, incompetent; on the take louisiana legislature and state government is doing to your loved ones and to you and to your fellow louisianaians and do something about it.

sb672: 'whats one more lie from a known liar.'

at 11:00 am cdt sunday 29 june 2008, louisiana's fast talking, bullshit artist governor, piyush "bobby" jindal, appeared on cnn. in this 1minute 13seconds clip taken from that interview, piyush outright lies to host candy crowley when he states "they [legislators] can still sign affidavits to turn down this pay raise."

we now turn your attention to this post 'stop the deceit!' by c.b. forgotston, esq. in which he explains "the legal deadline [for legislators to sign affidavits to turn down the pay raise] expired on tuesday, june 17." and links to the louisiana law which shows that what piyush said today to be an outright lie.

    hb887 rethug slug-fest in senate judiciary "a"

on tuesday 03 june 2008 the louisiana state senate committee on the judiciary "a" convened at the state capital in the john j. hainkel room. this is one of the more interesting and informative "incidents" of the just concluded 2008 louisiana regular legislative session.

rep. john labruzzo (an sb672 yea voter and now recanter) told the committee that what his bill does is that "if you are an illegal alien in the state of louisiana, it would prohibit you from suing for malpractice except for future medical and as amended except for if you are a minor and those are the two exceptions."

hb887 was strenuously opposed by the catholic church and zionist puppet groups and rabble rousers like oxfam, the congress of day laborers and others.

a group of student activists apparently from tulane fills the audience and at the appropriate times, as if on cue, practically laugh rep. labruzzo out of the committee meeting.

whether or not you support the provisions called for in rep. labruzzo's hb887 isnt important at least as far as this post is concerned. our attitude is that each and every bill killed by the state legislature is ultimately for the good. whats important is how this committee meeting shows how our state legislature really works.

dont be fooled by the committee chairwoman, senator julie quinn and her pandering and political posturing, attempting to cast herself as a valkyrie-esq guardian of the united states and state constitution because thats all it is - posturing and pandering.

senator quinn is herself a rino and a person of dubious morals and ethics. we are aware of at least one bill senator quinn had no problem whatsoever voting for and which subsequently was struck down as unconstitutional (after needlessly costing the state taxpayers hundreds of thousands if not millions to litigate) prompting the judge - u.s. federal district court judge and alexandria, la. native judge james brady to famously write that he was 'dumbfounded' by the legislature passing the bill in the first place.

the portions of this incident that reveals how the state legislature really works and how in this case sleazy, self-serving, politically ambitious louisiana politicans like rep. labruzzo, file bills not for the public good, which if they were decent, respectable legislators they would explain to their constituents how a bill such as hb887 is unconstitutional -- instead they seek out their constituents fears and prejudices in order to exploit them for their own political gain is revealed, perhaps inadvertently, by senator quinn when she confronts representative labruzzo recounting how he came to her after the last election to tell her that "this issue polled number one in now congressman scalise's district." to which rep. labruzzo replied "it's true."

toward the end of the vid, senator quinn states that she thinks that rep. labruzzo brought the bill for "political reasons" (duh) referencing an alleged incident at ruth chris's steak house in which rep. labruzzo was laughing about the five representatives in the state house who voted against the bill and how rep. labruzzo and others were bragging about how they would be able to "use this [their nay vote] against them in the next campaign." a charge to which rep. labruzzo denied.

at the end of the video state senator bob kostelka - the piyush puppet politician (and twice proud sb672 yea voter/supporter) who was the key person in destroying the state ethics code and ethics board (see also forgotston: autopsy of the death of ethics) shows us all just what a lousy mind that cant think properly that he has. senator kostelka's comments should also serve to show why piyush "bobby" jindal and his administration chose sen. kostelka to be their useful idiot and puppet.

    hb887 house final passage vote

we dont know who the five representatives referenced by senator quinn in the video are - but we see out of the central louisiana delegation only rep. herbert dixon had the intestinal fortitude to vote against the bill. sadly, but not unsurprisingly, representatives billy chandler, chris hazel and chris roy, jr. violated their oath of office by choosing to play the political pandering game by voting for unconstitutional legislation.

louisiana jack-booted thugs harrass funeral mourners

bunch of pompous perfumed prince's in the louisiana state police themselves too lazy and corrupt to investigate and prosecute all the political and governmental corruption that plagues louisianaians -- thats why when you see a louisiana politician or governmental official "public servant" indicted and/or prosecuted its always brought on by the feds -- can find the time to harangue harmless funeral mourners in a small louisiana town having a population of around 2,300 people - that all know each other.

Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined.... O sir, we should have fine times, indeed, if to punish tyrants, it were only sufficient to assemble the people!" - Patrick Henry

    by Michael DeVault

"We'll clean their clock in court and clearly show that Billy Coenen is absolutely innocent of any wrongdoing."

That was noted defense attorney Mike Small's response to a federal grand jury indictment of Coenen, 5th Judicial District Attorney.

Coenen was indicted today in Shreveport on charges of conspiracy and mail fraud surrounding a land deal involving Poverty Point Reservoir in Richland Parish.

Also indicted were Monroe engineer and businessman Terry Denmon and Poverty Point Reservoir District executive director Mike Thompson.

Thompson was previously indicted by a federal grand jury within the past year over charges stemming from a federal investigation of Poverty Point Reservoir.

According to a copy of the indictment obtained by The Franklin Sun, beginning in 1995, Coenen, Denmon and Thompson conspired to buy land near the reservoir and then used publicly owned equipment and public money to make improvements to the land before selling it for some $250,000.

Coenen provided legal services to the reservoir district and Denmon performed engineering tasks at the 3,000-acre lake, which was built by the state at Poverty Point, according to the indictment. Both men were paid for their services by the PPRD, which made them employees of the state, the indictment said.

In February, 1995, the group bought a five-acre tract of land in the reservoir district for $16,800, according to the indictment.

Because the three men each had interests in the reservoir district's management, they bought the property through an unnamed agent, according to the indictment.

In July, 1998, Thompson ordered PPRD employees to remove a stand of trees on the property, the indictment said.

According to the indictment, it was the first of many improvements Thompson would make to the property before the group subdivided the tract into five lots in 2000.

Eventually, the group sold all five lots and pocketed some $250,000, according to the indictment.

This prosecution is wrongheaded and frankly represents federal government overreaching at its absolute worst," said Small, of Alexandria.

"This assistant U.S. attorney has taken an alleged violation of the state code of ethics, which never occurred, and parlayed it into a federal criminal case," Small said, referring to Assistant U.S. Attorney Mignonne Griffing, who is a native of Sicily Island.

"It is a sad example of a very disturbing trend on the part of federal prosecutors to meddle into purely state matters where they have no business whatsoever," Small continued. "We'll clean their clock in court and clearly show that Billy Coenen is absolutely innocent of any wrongdoing.

"Unfortunately, the publicity surrounding this indictment will have already besmirched the reputation of a decent man who has tirelessly devoted the last 30 years of his life to aggressively prosecuting real criminals in the jurisdiction where he lives and serves as district attorney."

The indictment cites Louisiana Revised Statute 42:1112, which states, "no public servant…shall participate in a transaction in which he has a personal substantial economic interest of which he may be reasonably expected to know involving the governmental entity."

The indictment contends that, because each of the three men worked as consultants for PPRD, they were forbidden from profiting from land transactions involving Poverty Point. ~ link

sb672 legislative pay raise fraud bill scammer

on 12 june 2008, the gannett/town talk repeater karina donica reported
Last week, the City Council gave preliminary approval to hire three consultants to counsel the city on a $40 million bond issuance that will initiate the Special Planned Activity Redevelopment Corridors, or SPARC, plan. The bond amount is part of the $96 million overall price tag for SPARC.
    [...]
To make the plan work, the city "may require expert help, and admittedly, the city is not the best model to run the program we have created in the most efficient manner. Simply put, our 'baby' is too big and has very extraordinary needs," Mayor Jacques Roy wrote in recent correspondence to members of the council.
    [...]
The cost of fees for professional services for most of the consultant work under SPARC is not clear thus far. In response to a public records request regarding compensation, City Attorney Charles "Chuck" Johnson said no contract or agreements with the bonding consultants have been finalized at this time and that the information would be released when available.
according to ms. donica, one of the consultants is:
State Sen. Eric LaFleur, D-Ville Plate, owner of Mahtook & LaFleur. Prior to winning a Senate seat last November, LaFleur was a representative for House District 28 since 1999. A contributor to Roy's mayoral campaign, Roy had said LaFleur's "significant" contribution was made with no expectation of future work. According to the Louisiana Secretary of State's Office, LaFleur owns or is part owner of United Paradise Corp., a nonprofit organization, Ville Platte Clinic Pharmacy, Bravo Therapy Services, Lincoln Road Benevolent Corp. and LaFleur & Labruyere Title Co. (also known as Mahtook & LaFleur) located in Lafayette. LaFleur will be co-bond counsel for the $15 million issue.
senator lafleur voted not once but twice for sb672 the legislative pay raise fraud bill. this senate roll call vote is when sb672 passed the senate the first time in its original form and was meant to, amongst other things, increase a leges salary from $16,800 per year to $70,000 per year. ~ link

this is the second time senator lafleur voted for sb672 when the senate concurred with speaker jim tucker's house amendment which increased the leges annual salary from $16,800 to $37,500. ~ link

how convenient that central la. representative (and another sb672 yea voter) herbert dixon got his hr101 passed and filed to the sec'y of state:
"To urge and request the House Committee on Municipal, Parochial and Cultural Affairs to study economic development in Alexandria, looking in particular at the further refinement and execution of the mayor's SPARC plan..."
yep, looks like another smoke-filled back room case of good ol boy, self-serving career politicians and professional pig-troughers making their living from off the taxpayers back.

u.s. supremes strike down louisiana state supremes on death penalty for raping children

    patrick kennedy v. louisiana
click here to download 65 page .pdf

today, the united states supreme court struck down that portion of la. r.s. 14:42 -- louisiana's aggravated rape law -- which provided for the death penalty for the rape of a child under the age of thirteen years.

naturally, piyush is 'outraged' and released a statement which says in part:
"The Supreme Court is dead wrong.

"It is fundamentally improper for the Supreme Court to base an important decision like this on its 'independent judgment' about a perceived 'national consensus against capital punishment for the crime of child rape.' The opinion reads more like an out-of-control legislative debate than a constitutional analysis." ~ read the complete statement
however, if you read the louisiana supreme court's opinion from page thirty-eight where they discuss and then reject the eighth amendment, you will see that it was they who perceived a national consensus calling for the death penalty for child rape.

the united states supreme court pointed this out too:
The state court next asked whether “child rapists rank among the worst offenders.” Id., at 788. It noted the severity of the crime; that the execution of child rapists would serve the goals of deterrence and retribution; and that, unlike in Atkins and Roper, there were no characteristics of petitioner that tended to mitigate his moral culpability.Id., at 788–789.

It concluded: “[S]hort of first-degree murder, we can think of no other non-homicide crime more deserving [of capital punishment].” Id., at 789.

On this reasoning the Supreme Court of Louisiana rejected petitioner’s argument that the death penalty for the rape of a child under 12 years is disproportionate and upheld the constitutionality of the statute.

Chief Justice Calogero dissented. Coker, supra, and Eberheart v. Georgia, 433 U. S. 917 (1977), in his view, “set out a bright-line and easily administered rule” that the Eighth Amendment precludes capital punishment for any offense that does not involve the death of the victim. 957 So. 2d, at 794.
what is clear, is that the louisiana supreme court, less chief justice calagero in this case, are far more interested in playing politics even when it involves someones life than they are in arriving at proper opinions and judgments within the law.

the death penalty provision part of r.s. 14:42 was added in 1995 and the state legislature website only goes back to 1997 so we cant find out who the legislator was who authored the unconstitutional bill - or the voting record supporting it either.

so dont be angry with the united states supreme court when they are called on to clean up a mess made by our own state supreme court, legislature and governor.

click here to download 128 page .pdf

what "they" ought to do is print out the louisiana supreme court opinion which recounts the gruesomeness of the crime as well as how mr. kennedy tried to frame a neighborhood kid with the rape and give it to his cellies.

lege watch is one of the websites set up in response to sb672 -- the massive louisiana legislative pay raise fraud bill.

    excerpt:

Robert Davis will interview with Tonya LaCoste, host of “the Morning Report”, on KPEL-FM, 105.1, located in Lafayette, Louisiana. For those who don’t reside in close proximity to receive the signal, they may streamline the show “live” by going to www.kpel1051.com and listen.

The show airs from 5:30am- 9:00am, but he will be on live at 7:30am.

Also - Rob will be on Ringside Politics next week. If you happened to catch any of the coverage in BR and Monroe today, let us know! And if you are able to record any of these things for us, we could really use a volunteer in each city to do that...read more

obama: 'we are no longer a christian nation'

the thing is though is that obama is right. this youtube commenter correctly sums it up:

    1Elle7
This is not a Christian nation. There are a few Christians here in the USA but otherwise this is a nation of immorality, perversion, and evil. An ANTI-Christian nation. Nothing more than a modern day Sodom or Gomorrah and God is displeased.

piyush scammers at it again: pushing shannon gremillion for third circuit appeals court justice

it seems that there is a copy of an invitation from 'the committee to elect shannon gremillion to the louisiana third circuit court of appeal,' floating around the internets and making its way through the tubes.

if you look real close at the invitation you cant help but notice that this is the same crew that promoted and financed piyush "bobby" jindal for governor and we all know how well thats turned out now dont we.

so if these people arent smart enough to choose a respectable candidate to promote for governor of the great state of louisiana why for pities sake should we trust them to have the intellect to choose for us a proper person to serve in such an important position as an appeals court justice? the answer is we shouldnt and out of an abundance of caution we should reject the candidacy of mr. shannon gremillon out of hand. after all who likes getting burnt twice?

the ringleader of the piyush scammers pushing mr. gremillion is an alexandria, la. car salesman named dallas hixson. mr. hixson and his car bidness were major financiers of the piyush "bobby" jindal campaign.

on 01 april 2008 it was reported by kalb, that mr. hixson was appointed by piyush "bobby" jindal to the louisiana motor vehicle commission. this and other similar appointments would lead a reasonable minded person to conclude that mr. hixson was most likely appointed to the commission as some sort of payback for all the big dollars he contributed to piyush's campaign fund.

all this would probably also lead a reasonable minded person to conclude that mr. hixson doesnt support candidates unless there is something in it for him -- down the road so to speak.

moral of the story - dont vote for shannon gremillion.

michelle kosinski is outstanding in her field

H.R.6304 don cazayoux is a SELL OUT

louisiana's latest sorry excuse for a democrat don cazayoux

see it doesnt matter if you vote for a democrat or a republican they are the same thing. when are people ever going to realize this? stop being suckers and quit voting for democrats and republicans. congressman jefferson, as usual, was the only louisiana congressman who voted against the fisa bill and we will certainly remember him and do thank him for that.

meanwhile, ryan over at the daily kingfish has an open letter to senator katrina mary landrieu snellings about the senate's upcoming fisa vote. while we appreciate ryan's letter, the fact is that katrina mary landrieu snellings has been one of the biggest bush whores and thugs on the hill and her ass needs to go too. with all of the corruption katrina mary landrieu snellings has been linked to shes probably being blackmailed and if thats the case then what good is she to us anyway?

don cazayoux needs to be thrown out on his ear this fall and maybe he really is a "couillion" like louisiana conservative insists. rodney alexander, charles boustany, charlie melancon and steve scalise need to go as well. they are all traitors.

H.R. 6304 is a bill to rewrite the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA, PL95-511) would almost certainly lead to the dismissal of lawsuits against telecommunications companies accused of aiding the Bush administration’s warrantless surveillance program. In the House, the measure passed with the support of 105 Democrats and 188 Republicans.
    [...]
If the Senate clears the bill, it will give Bush much of what he wants in terms of spying powers and protection for the telecommunications companies
    [...]
House members who voted against the bill said its expansion of the president’s surveillance powers would gut Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable searches and seizures.
    [...]
Under the bill, a federal district court would rule that all existing lawsuits against third parties that assisted Bush’s warrantless surveillance program would be waived if there was “substantial evidence” they received written assurances that the program was legal and authorized by the president. A Senate Intelligence Committee report on an earlier version of the legislation detailed how the companies had received such assurances from the Justice Department and the White House. Aides and lawmakers consider the court’s dismissal of the lawsuits a virtual certainty. ~ read more
