from kalb tv-5 at 11:07 a.m. cdt sunday 31 august 2008. kalb tv-5 is broadcasting hourly updates on the hour.
kalb's meteorologist tom konvicka says that central louisiana faces three threats from hurricane gustav:1) the most dangerous threat: flooding
mr. konvicka says that gustav will still be a tropical storm even as far inland as east of fort polk and leesville. [fort polk radar]
2) tornadoes
3) high wind
hurricane force gusts of wind (74mph+) are possible south and east of alexandria. there is a high risk of tornadoes because much of the area will be near the center-line and/or to the right of the center-line.
central louisiana could see 10" - 15" of rain; perhaps even 20" which will cause flooding.
hurricane gustav is expected to come ashore around noon central time monday 01 september 2008.

we noticed that john mcmadman mccain chose van halen's "right now" as his intro and outro song at this mornings vice presidential running mate announcement at dayton, ohio. what an interesting choice of songs.
perhaps these screen grabs from the video more clearly explain mcmadman mccain's choice::

senator obama took the stage at 11 minutes past the hour - 9:11 p.m. cdt. thankfully, all the talk about his giving his speech 'from a greek temple' turned out to be another case of rovian hyperbole. senator obama delivers a great speech and its easy to see how so many have fallen under his spell. however, the reality is that there is no difference between senator obama's and senator mcmadman mccain's policies.
congressman ron paul told cnn that "their foreign policies are identical, there's no difference."
"they want more troops in afghanistan. they want to send more support to georgia to protect the oil line there. neither one says bring home the troops from iraq from the bases -- you know the bases are going to stay there, the embassy as big as the vatican, that's going to remain. So their foreign policies are exactly the same," he added.
the former republican presidential candidate said that the two candidates are both threats to the us national interests. ~ read more [link to cnn interview video]

kalb's mike magnoli takes us to 94 florence avenue, alexandria, la. the police are looking for the driver of a black mitsubishi gallant who jumped out of the car, with a gun and ran during what may or may not have been a routine traffic stop. the alexandria police department believed that the suspect may have been hiding in an abandoned home at 94 florence avenue.

item number 43 of the tuesday, 26 august 2008 city of alexandria, la. city council agenda read: To memorialize the passing of Les Whitt, City of Alexandria Zoo Director since 1974 and to consider an appropriate memoriam.
council president, louis marshall, said that at the request of mr. whitt's family the item was pulled until they finish their grieving process and that "until such time as ms. whitt and her family finish their grieving process, then we'll revisit item number 43." mr. greg gormanous rose to speak a few words about mr. whitt. at the request of councilman roosevelt johnson the council and audience stood for a moment of silence in memory of mr. whitt.
on 20 august 2008 we posted the lsu team roster from 1978 and 1979. someone sent us these documents claiming that they disputed statements made by alexandria, louisiana city marshall candidate, t.a. messina in which he stated on his official campaign website that he played for lsu in 1977,'78 and '79.
according to our emailer the 1977 team roster wasnt available while the '78 and '79 lsu football team rosters failed to list mr. messina by name and/or jersey number.
on friday 22 august 2008 another local blog posted a photograph which purported to show mr. messina or someone with the jersey number 4 kicking a football in the 15 september 1979, lsu at colorado game.
this was a very odd and ambiguous photograph for someone to post as proof that they played football. why not, for example, simply produce a team photograph?
we'll be the first to admit that sports isnt our forte and the picture presented more questions than answers.
for example, according to the 1979 lsu numerical roster there is no listing for the number 4.
I was asked to look up stats from the 1979 football game between LSU and Colorado to see if T.A. Messina was found in the play-by-play records. In the fourth quarter with 1:11 left to play, Messina kicked the PAT on LSU's last touchdown to make it 44-0. In the 1980 media guide in the game recap section, the final sentence of the Colorado recap says something to the effect of "T.A. Messina kicked the final PAT to cap off a near perfect day for the Tigers in the Rockies." If you were looking for proof that he played and kicked for LSU, that is it. Let me know if you need any other information. I hope this was what you were looking for.so there ya have it.

JOHN McCAIN PRO LIFE? WHAT A JOKE
By Chuck Baldwin
August 22, 2008
NewsWithViews.com
Once again, "pro-life" Christians are doing back flips to try and justify their compromise of the life issue by trying to convince everyone (including themselves) that John McCain is truly pro-life. However, these same people know in their hearts that John McCain shares no fidelity to the life issue in any significant or meaningful way. Like many in the Republican Party, McCain's commitment to life is about as deep as a mud puddle.
Dare I remind everyone that the "pro-life" GOP controlled the entire federal government from 2000 to 2006 and nothing was done to overturn Roe v. Wade or end legal abortion-on-demand? When George W. Bush took the oath of office in January of 2001, over one million innocent unborn babies were being murdered in the wombs of their mothers every year via legal abortions in this country. And when George W. Bush leaves office in January of 2009, over one million innocent unborn babies would still be murdered in the wombs of their mothers every year via legal abortions in this country. Eight years of a "pro-life" President and six years of the "pro-life" GOP in charge of the entire federal government and not one unborn baby's life has been saved. Roe v. Wade is still the law of the land, and abortion-on-demand is still legal in America.
Had John McCain and his fellow Republicans truly wanted to end legal abortion, they could have passed Congressman Ron Paul's Sanctity of Life Act. Year after year, Dr. Paul introduced this bill, and year after year, it sat and collected dust in the document room on Capitol Hill.
What would Congressman Paul's bill do? It would do two things: 1) It would define life as beginning at conception and, thus, declare the personhood of every pre-born child. 2) Under Article. III. Section. 2. of the U.S. Constitution, it would remove abortion from the jurisdiction of the Court. In practical terms, Dr. Paul's bill would overturn Roe v. Wade and end legal abortion-on-demand. So, where was John McCain? Why did he not support Ron Paul's bill and introduce a companion bill in the U.S. Senate?
How can John McCain, and his fellow Republicans in Washington, D.C., look pro-life Christians and conservatives in the eye in 2008 and expect that we take them seriously when they say that they are "pro-life"? If the GOP had truly wanted to overturn Roe v. Wade and end legal abortion-on-demand, they could have already done it. They controlled the White House, the U.S. Senate, and the House of Representatives for six long years, for goodness sake. The reason they did not do it is because they did not want to do it. They merely want to use "pro-life" rhetoric as a campaign tool to dupe gullible Christian voters every election year. And the disgusting thing about it is--it works.
The vast majority of notable "pro-life" leaders in the country are now trumpeting the candidacy of John McCain. And the best challenge they can come up with is "McCain better not pick a 'pro-choice' Vice President." Oh, shut up (to quote Jay Leno)!
John McCain openly embraces embryonic stem cell research. In 2000, he boldly said he did not favor the overturn of Roe v. Wade. John McCain was a member of the infamous "Gang of 14" senators from both parties whose purpose was to oppose pro-life, strict constructionist judges.
Speaking of judges, John McCain voted for the pro-abortion justice, Stephen Breyer, and the radical, pro-abortion, ACLU attorney, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. So much for the argument that we need John McCain for the sake of appointing conservative justices to the Supreme Court. For that matter, Republican appointments dominated the Court that gave us Roe v. Wade and the one that later gave us Doe v. Bolton. Proving, once again, that the Republican Party, as a whole, has no real commitment to the life issue.
John McCain also gave us McCain-Feingold. This is the law that keeps pro-life or pro-Second Amendment organizations from broadcasting ads that mention a candidate by name 30 days before a primary election or 60 days before a general election. This proves that John McCain believes neither in the right to life nor the right to keep and bear arms. (This is one reason why the Gun Owners of America gives McCain a grade of F.)
In a debate with George W. Bush in May of 2000, John McCain attacked Bush's support for the pro-life plank in the Republican Party. Still today, John McCain believes that babies who are conceived via rape or incest should be murdered. I remind readers, however, that there are no "exceptions" in the womb, only babies.
If all of the above is not enough, as a senator, John McCain has repeatedly voted to fund pro-abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood with federal tax dollars. In fact, McCain has voted to use federal tax dollars to support abortion providers at home and overseas. Yes, this "pro-life" senator (along with "pro-life" President, George W. Bush) has significantly increased federal spending for abortion providers to levels eclipsing even the appropriations authorized by President Bill Clinton and his fellow Democrats.
wst... note: speaking of planned parenthood: check out this fifty seconds video from them, produced with our tax dollar funding (borrowed from china) about oral sex.
John McCain also supports the United Nations, which not only works to strip the United States of its independence and sovereignty, and banish our right to keep and bear arms, but is also the most radical, pro-abortion organization in the entire world. More babies have been aborted around the world under the auspices of the U.N. than any other single entity.
Tell me again, Mr. Christian Leader, how "pro-life" John McCain is. What a joke!

UPDATE: larry sinclair is back online temporarily at www.larrysinclair-0926.blogspot.com
One day before the start of the Democratic National Convention, www.larrysinclair0926.com and www.larrysinclairbarackobama.com has been suspended by Startlogic.
Upon contacting of Startlogic they reason's for the suspension of these web sites sounds insincere. Startlogic claims that the sites have been suspended due to an unforeseen amount of traffice and strain on the server and that startlogic cannot unsuspend the account nor can they allow for me to access any of the files from the sites.
Me personally, I find the statements by Startlogic to be complete BS.
So folks until I can figure out how to set up the site on a VPS private server I guess the Obama/Biden camp have won for the day anyway.

UPDATE: mr. berg mentions 911 a couple of times so we checked to see if eric hufschmid has any information on him, it turns out that mr. berg is quite a character:
Phil Berg
He was the lawyer for Ellen Mariani, whose husband supposedly died during the 9-11 attack. Berg claimed to be filing a lawsuit against the government. He has been involved in 9-11 for years, but what has he accomplished? How is he making a living?
In his speech he says that George Bush must be held accountable for 9-11. Why George Bush? Why not the people who blew up the towers? Why not include the media executives who suppress evidence? What about the Zionists, Mr. Berg? Can we hold them accountable, also? click here for more.
Tomorrow, (24 August 2008) on the Sunday show at noon (Bryan Crouch Show), and again on Monday at 5:00 p.m. on Acadiana Uncovered, I will be interviewing Philip J. Berg, Esq., the PA attorney who has sued Obama in Federal Court, forcing him to prove he is either a natural born citizen of The United States OR took the necessary steps to become a legal citizen, etc., which is a definite qualification to even run for President. To date, the questions have gone unanswered by Obama's camp.
He has been "swamped" with requests for interviews, but wanted very much to reach Louisiana..
Thought you may want to listen in.

REDFLEX…LAFAYETTE CONSOLIDATED GOVERNMENT…
WHAT’S REALLY GOING ON?
by Stephanie Ware, LPI
Host of Acadiana Uncovered, 1330 KVOL A.M.
Over the last year, I have found myself in a completely different area of life than I was always used to. The day I stepped into the arena with the Valiant Lafayetteers (the opposition to the ticket extortion program), which we were named by a friend in Alexandria, was a day I will never forget. It was the day that I woke up and truly understood that government has to be watched and politicians need to be held accountable for their actions or lack thereof. The duty of citizens does not stop at the polls, unfortunately.
One example of government gone bad is the Red Light/Speedvan scam that has been placed on the heads of the good citizens of Louisiana. Politicians and bureaucrats alike, at least in Lafayette, were told by officials that this program is illegal in the State of Louisiana. And, instead of listening to those officials who knew better, Lafayette Consolidated Government and Tony Tramel, who is the Director of Traffic and Transportation in Lafayette, chose to "throw the deck up and see where the cards fall." Literally.
First and foremost, Louisiana has a specific state law (LA R.S. 32:365) prohibiting even police officers from recording vehicles in violation of traffic safety laws with citations for such violations to be mailed to the alleged violator at a later date.
So, it is baffling to know that our local politicians gave Redflex Traffic Systems permission to do what police officers themselves are prohibited from doing.
Let’s not forget the fact that the Louisiana Legislature denied legislation four times that would allow this type of program in Louisiana. However, Lafayette Consolidated Government, hiding behind their Home Rule Charter, did it anyway. I guess, as someone once said to me, it is easier to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.
Well, now our local government will need to answer to its citizens and ask for forgiveness by answering the class-action lawsuit that has been filed against it.
What is very shameful to me is that the guise Redflex tries to sell to the public is that it’s all about our safety, and we are all a bunch of lawbreakers who need to be controlled; however, it is very clear that these programs are all about creating a new revenue stream for government.
Not only is it, in my opinion, not the role of the government to control and change the behavior of its citizens, but it is also disgusting to place a sneaky new tax on the over-taxed citizens of Louisiana and tell us it’s for our benefit.
Not only did Redflex Traffic Systems, Inc. come into the State of Louisiana and violate numerous state and constitutional laws, but its salesman, Charlie Buckles of Lafayette, has continually tried to push this program by delivering inaccuracies and promises to local governments.
A little wink, wink, nod, nod and this wonderful program can be yours too! Mr. Buckles is not a registered lobbyist is he?
Before citizens decide to give in and pay the extortion notices, I encourage each one to do the research. Google is a powerful tool and much is to be found by searching "Redflex."
I also encourage the citizens of Lafayette and Louisiana for that matter, to look into the window of your government and ask yourselves, "What’s really going on?" You may want to keep one phrase in mind to help you see through the foggy glass – "Follow the money."
we noticed that the gannett/town talk and kalb are making a big deal over some trouble baton rouge, attorney john sharp got himself into. mr. sharp was one of the attorneys representing the city of alexandria in its longtime, ongoing and fabled fraud suit against cleco. see the town talk 'attorney for alexandria in cleco litigation accused of misconduct in another case' and kalb.com 'lawyer removed from cleco case.'
however, if you read the fifteen page .pdf of the louisiana attorney disciplinary board, hearing committee#1 report and recommendation, in re: john m. sharp, which is the document that the town talk and kalb are basing their stories off of, you will see that all the complaint boils down to is lawyers stealing from lawyers. so what.
nowhere in the document does it say or suggest that mr. sharp's clients were harmed by him and his actions and thats all that matters. actually, mr. sharp did what his clients asked: "mr. brady asked mr. sharp if he and his family could retain the entirety of the settlement proceeds and pay the firm its fees and expenses owed over some loosely defined period of time. mr. sharp agreed..." [.pdf page 3] that would seem to be a pretty risky agreement to enter into. the ladb notes that: "it is crystal clear that the entire $150,000.00, including the firms earned fees and costs, was turned over to the brady's." [.pdf page 4] now thats our kind of lawyer. and this is really what mr. sharp's fellow members of the bar are pissed over.
if you notice the ladb never really says why mr. sharp did what he did. oh sure, they have a lot of pages in which they discuss mr. sharp's attention deficit disorder(ADD/ADHD). all this is, is an attempt an shift the blame and to make mr. sharp appear crazy. the ladb mentions that mr. sharp said that he did it because of "greed and arrogance," but thats no explanation
"other witnesses [namely his former partners: dupuy, colvin, weaver, cerniglia and davis] each of them spoke quite well of sharp and all appeared to look up to him as a professional. the testimony reveals that during the relevant time, he met deadlines, worked a rigorous schedule in a very detail oriented and complicated area of law, and generally comported himself very well as an attorney." [.pdf page 10]
if you notice mr. sharp's name came first on the firm's letterhead and he was the managing partner. so for all we know, this could have been nothing more than a mole hill, that mr. sharp's partners made into a mountain in order to get rid of him so they could take over his client list.
perhaps, the real reason was because mr. sharp though that his firm was overbilling its clients - we know that in some law firms that certainly goes on. so we suspect that there is a whole lot more going on here than what the ladb would have us believe.
however, the 'crystal clear' message that the ladb is sending out is: lawyers dont steal from other lawyers or else you will be disbarred and made to appear crazy.
whilst we were over on the labd website we happened to notice another case from 06 june 2008: in re: darrel d. ryland [nine page .pdf]. mr. ryland is a marksville, (avoyelles parish) la. attorney and president of union bank. [.pdf] this action received scant local media attention.
heres a case where a lawyer was literally screwing his client and the louisiana state supreme court merely suspended mr. ryland from the practice of law for ninety days and deferred that -- subject to mr. ryland's successful completion of the additional hours of continuing legal education
